03L906262P Lambda Sensor – Front 5 Wire Oxygen Sensor for Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda

This 03L906262P lambda sensor is a five-wire oxygen sensor that the supplier lists for a long run of Audi models, including the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8, as well as many Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda and Porsche applications. It is one sensor with its lead and a black plug, and it is cross-referenced to more than thirty Volkswagen group and other part numbers. Easy Life Markets sells it for owners and garages that have matched one of those numbers to the sensor on the car.

A five-wire sensor is a wideband type. A simple narrowband sensor only tells the engine computer whether the mixture is rich or lean. A wideband sensor reports how far from ideal it is, which the engine management needs for accurate fuelling and emissions control. The oxygen sensor article explains the difference in more detail. It also means a five-wire sensor cannot be swapped for a four-wire one, even where the thread is the same.

The supplier's title also names the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7, and its item details mention BMW, Nissan and Renault, but the list above gives no models or years for those. Treat them as unconfirmed unless your part number matches.

Match by Part Number, Not by Model

A list this wide covers many engines, and the supplier gives engine sizes without engine codes or fuel type for most lines. A 2.0 petrol and a 2.0 diesel in the same body do not take the same sensor. The safe way to buy is this:

  1. Read the number on your old sensor or look it up by VIN, and find it in the cross-reference lists above.
  2. Count the wires. This sensor has five.
  3. Compare the plug with the close-up photo of the connector face.
  4. Not sure? Send us your VIN and the number from the old sensor.

Symptoms and Fitting

A failing lambda sensor usually announces itself with an engine warning light and a stored code for the sensor signal or its heater. You may also notice higher fuel use, hesitation or a failed emissions test. Check for exhaust leaks and wiring damage first, because they cause the same codes.

  • Fit with the exhaust warm, not hot, and unplug the connector before turning the sensor.
  • Use a slotted sensor socket. Soak a tight sensor with penetrating oil and take your time.
  • If the new threads are not already coated, use a little sensor-safe anti-seize on the threads only.
  • Route and clip the lead as the original ran, then clear the fault codes. Some engines also need an adaptation reset with a diagnostic tool.

Common Questions

Is the 03L906262P lambda sensor a genuine Audi or VW part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket sensor and the numbers shown are cross-references.

Front or rear? The title names the front position. The supplier's item details list both front and rear, so go by the part number on the sensor you are replacing.

Can I use it in place of a four-wire sensor? No. Wire count and connector must match the original.
