"Waterproof". The supplier's title and photos use the word. A deck box with a hinged lid should keep out most rain from above, but the lid seal is not described, and wind-driven rain or standing water around the base can still get in. Keep electronics, paper and anything valuable in a sealed tub inside it.

Why Galvanized Steel

Bare steel rusts quickly outdoors. Galvanization coats steel with zinc, which corrodes far more slowly and protects the steel underneath even where the coating is lightly scratched.
