2K USB Webcam – Drive-Free HD Computer Camera with Ring Light for Live Streaming and Online Video Conference
2K USB Webcam with Ring Light – Drive-Free HD Computer Camera
This 2K USB webcam is a clip-on computer camera with a ring light built around the lens. It plugs into a USB port, sits on top of a monitor or a laptop lid, and is described by the supplier as drive-free, which means it is meant to work without installing a driver. The light is controlled from a touch button on the front of the camera, just below the lens. Easy Life Markets sells it in black as a single camera.
The cameras built into most laptops are small, sit low in the lid, and struggle in a dim room. An external webcam fixes the two things that matter most on a video call: where the camera sits and how much light reaches your face. This one deals with both in a single unit, so there is no separate lamp to buy, position and plug in.

What the Supplier Data Does Not Tell Us
We would rather point out the gaps than fill them with guesses:
- Exact pixel count and frame rate. The listing says 2K and stops there. It gives no figure in pixels and no frames-per-second rating.
- Microphone. The supplier's data does not mention one, so we do not list one. Plan on using a headset or a separate microphone, which usually sounds better in any case.
- Cable length. Not stated.
- Size unit. The 12 × 10 × 8 figure has no unit. Centimetres would be a sensible reading for the boxed product, but that is our reading, not the supplier's statement.
- Indoor and outdoor. The supplier ticks both. This is a desk camera on a USB cable with no stated weather rating, so treat it as an indoor product.
If one of these points decides the purchase for you, ask us before ordering and we will put the question to the supplier.
The Ring Light
The white face around the lens lights up. Because the light comes from the same place as the camera, it falls straight on whatever the camera is pointed at and does not throw a hard shadow to one side, which is why ring lights are popular for calls and close-up streaming. Touch the button below the lens to switch it. The light is small, so it works at arm's length; it will lift your face out of a dim room but it will not light the room behind you.
Setting It Up
- Open the clip and rest it on the top edge of the monitor, with the front lip over the bezel and the rear foot against the back of the screen. On a laptop, close the clip gently on the lid.
- Plug the USB cable straight into the computer. A direct port is more reliable than an unpowered hub for a camera with a light.
- Wait a few seconds for the computer to recognise the camera.
- Open your video call or streaming program, go to its video settings, and choose the new camera from the list.
- Tilt the camera so your eyes sit about a third of the way down the frame, then switch on the light if you need it.
Drive-free cameras normally appear in call and streaming software as a standard camera. We have not tested this one on every operating system, so if you use something other than a mainstream desktop system, check with us first.
Getting a Better Picture
- Put the camera at eye level or just above. Looking down into a low camera is a common reason people look odd on calls.
- Face a window if you can. Daylight from the front plus the ring light beats any light from behind you.
- Avoid sitting with a bright window at your back. The camera will expose for the window and leave your face dark.
- Keep the lens clean. A fingerprint softens the whole picture. Use a dry microfibre cloth.
- If the picture stutters, close other programs that use the camera and try a different USB port.
Who It Suits
People who work from home and take calls in rooms with poor light, teachers and tutors running online lessons, desktop PC owners whose monitor has no camera, and anyone starting out with live streaming who wants a simple camera and light in one piece.
Common Questions
Do I need to install anything? The supplier describes it as drive-free. Plug it in and select it in your software.
Can the light be turned off? The touch button on the front controls it. The supplier does not list the number of brightness levels.
Will it fit a thick monitor? The clip opens to grip a range of screens. Very thick or curved-back monitors can be awkward for any clip camera, so check the top edge of yours.
Is it a branded camera? No. It is an unbranded camera from our supplier and we do not present it as any other maker's product.
Does it work with a TV or phone? The supplier lists PC use only.
