Fitting Notes

The supplier's installation note covers the gasket: clean the contact surfaces of the rocker cover and the cylinder head, fit the new gasket, tighten the bolts, and make sure the gasket is not twisted or damaged so that it seals. Around that, the job usually goes like this:

Disconnect the battery and clean around the rocker cover before opening the engine, so dirt does not fall in.
Remove the rocker cover, unplug the old loom from each injector and from the engine harness, and lift it out.
Fit the new loom, press each plug home until it clicks and route the wires clear of moving parts.
Seat the new gasket evenly, refit the cover and tighten the bolts to the workshop manual figure. Over-tightening distorts the cover and causes leaks.
Clean any oil out of the engine harness and ECU plug with electrical contact cleaner. If oil has already reached the ECU plug, it may take more than one clean.
