BMW 4 Series Brake Disc for X3, Z4, 3 Series, 5 Series – G26, G38, 430i, Automatic, 1 Piece
BMW 4 Series Brake Disc for G26, G38 and 430i Models
This BMW 4 Series brake disc is an aftermarket replacement disc that the supplier lists for the BMW G26, G38 and 430i with automatic gearbox. The listing title also names the X3, Z4, 3 Series and 5 Series. It is sold as a single disc, in silver. Easy Life Markets offers it for owners and workshops who need to replace a worn or damaged disc and are able to match it against the one on the car.
We will be straightforward about this listing: the supplier gives very little technical data. There is no diameter, no thickness, no part number and no statement of whether the disc is for the front or the rear axle. BMW fits several different disc sizes across these model ranges depending on engine and brake package, so this is a part you should confirm carefully before buying. The sections below tell you exactly what is known and how to check. If you are new to the subject, the disc brake article explains what the disc does.
What Is Included
- 1 x brake disc
The supplier's packing list states one disc. Some of the product photos show two discs side by side, but the quantity supplied per order is one. Discs should always be replaced in pairs on the same axle, so order two if you are doing a full axle. Brake pads, fixing screws, wear sensors and other hardware are not included.

Checking Fitment
Please do not order this disc on the model name alone. Use these steps:
- Find your original disc part number. Enter your VIN in a BMW parts catalogue, or ask a dealer, and note the disc number and dimensions for the axle you are working on.
- Measure the disc on the car. Write down the outside diameter, the overall thickness, the number of bolt holes and the hat height.
- Send us those details. Contact us with your VIN and measurements before you order, and we will ask the supplier to confirm whether this disc matches.
- Compare the shape. The photos show a vented disc with a plain, undrilled braking face and five bolt holes. If your car has drilled or two-piece discs from a sport brake package, this is unlikely to be the same part.
G26 is the chassis code for the 4 Series Gran Coupe and G38 is the long-wheelbase 5 Series. The supplier lists both codes together with the 430i, which is why confirming by VIN matters here.
What the Photos Show
The disc in the photos is a one-piece vented design. Two braking faces are joined by a ring of internal vanes that draw air through the disc as it spins, which is how a vented disc gets rid of heat. The whole surface has a light grey protective coating, the kind used to stop a disc rusting in storage and on the areas the pads do not sweep. The coating on the braking faces wears off during the first few stops, which is normal.
Signs a Brake Disc Needs Replacing
- Vibration through the pedal or steering wheel when braking
- A raised lip around the outer edge of the disc
- Thickness at or below the minimum figure stamped on the disc
- Visible cracks, deep scoring or blue heat marks
- Heavy corrosion on the braking face that does not clean off after driving
- A brake wear warning on the dashboard when the pads have also reached their limit
Installation Notes
- Replace discs in axle pairs and fit new pads at the same time. Old pads will not sit flat on a new disc.
- Support the car securely on stands and remove the wheel, caliper and caliper carrier.
- Undo the small disc locating screw. These often seize, so use a well-fitting hex bit.
- Clean the hub face thoroughly so the new disc seats flat.
- Fit the disc, refit the locating screw, then the carrier and caliper, tightening everything to BMW's torque figures.
- If the car has pad wear sensors, fit new ones if the old ones have been triggered.
- Pump the brake pedal until it is firm before driving, and bed the brakes in gently.
Brake work is safety-critical, and modern BMWs often need the service indicator reset afterwards. We recommend having the disc fitted by a qualified mechanic.
Bedding In and Care
For the first 300 km, brake early and moderately. Avoid heavy stops and do not sit stationary with the pedal pressed hard when the brakes are hot. After washing the car, a short drive with a few light brake applications dries the discs and keeps surface rust from forming.
Who This Disc Is For
This disc suits BMW owners and independent specialists who have the original part details to hand and can verify the match before fitting. It is less suitable if you want to order by model name and fit it without checking.
Common Questions
Is this a genuine BMW disc? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket disc and is not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.
Is it a front or a rear disc? The supplier does not say. Send us your VIN and measurements and we will ask before you buy.
Do I get one disc or two? One. The packing list states a single disc, so order two for a complete axle.
