BMW X1 Engine Mount Set – 3 Pieces for BMW X1, X2 and Mini Cooper Clubman

This BMW X1 engine mount set is a three-piece engine and transmission mount kit for front-wheel-drive-based BMW and Mini models. The listing names the BMW X1 and X2 and the Mini Cooper Clubman, 2014–2021, and the kit is sold under BMW part numbers 22116885788, 22116885934 and 22316853453. As shown in the product photos, it includes two upper bracket mounts and a lower torque support (dog bone). Easy Life Markets sells the three mounts together as a complete set.

On these transverse-engine cars, the engine and gearbox sit across the engine bay and are held by an upper mount on each side and a lower torque support that stops the drivetrain rocking backward and forward. Together they carry the weight of the drivetrain and absorb its vibration. When the rubber in any of them cracks or softens, vibration and clunks come through into the cabin. You can learn more about how engine mounts work.

What Is Included

  • 2 x upper engine / transmission bracket mounts
  • 1 x lower torque support mount

The supplier's packing list states three engine mounts. The variant option on this page reads "1pcs", but that refers to one kit; the listing, photos and packing list all show a three-piece set.

Compatibility

The listing title names the BMW X1, X2 and Mini Cooper Clubman, 2014–2021. The supplier's detailed fitment also names the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and Gran Tourer (F46) from 2016 to 2018, including the 218i with the B38 three-cylinder engine. These models share a common platform, but mount part numbers still change with engine, gearbox and build date. Please:

  1. Check the part numbers on your existing mounts, or look up your car in a BMW or Mini parts catalogue using your VIN.
  2. Check your engine (three-cylinder or four-cylinder) and gearbox type.
  3. Compare the photos with your mounts before ordering.

If you are not sure, send us your VIN and we will help you check.

Signs of Worn Engine Mounts

  • Vibration at idle, especially with the air conditioning on or in Drive
  • A clunk when pulling away, braking or changing between Drive and Reverse
  • Excessive engine movement when revving
  • Cracked, split or collapsed rubber in a mount
  • Knocking over bumps from the front of the car

Installation Notes

  • Support the engine and gearbox securely before removing the upper mounts.
  • Replace one mount at a time so the drivetrain stays aligned.
  • Check that each mount sits correctly before tightening.
  • Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque. Some bolts are single-use and should be replaced.
  • Test drive and check for vibration and clunks afterwards.

Professional installation is recommended.

Why Replace All Three Mounts

The two upper mounts and the torque support work as a system. A worn torque support lets the engine rock, which puts extra load on the upper mounts, and the reverse is also true. Fitting all three together brings the drivetrain back to its correct position and gives the smoothest result from one job.

Looking After the New Mounts

Oil and coolant leaks break down rubber, so fix any leaks near the mounts. Smooth driving also helps: harsh launches and aggressive shifting between Drive and Reverse put extra stress on the torque support.

About the Lower Torque Support

The lower torque support, sometimes called a dog bone or pendulum support, connects the bottom of the gearbox or engine to the subframe. It controls the forward and backward rocking of the drivetrain when you accelerate and brake. It is the mount most often blamed for clunks when pulling away, because it takes the full torque reaction of the engine.

You can check it by looking at the rubber bushes at each end for cracks or tears, and by watching for large movement when a helper shifts between Drive and Reverse with the brakes held. If the torque support is worn, the upper mounts have usually been under extra strain too, which is why this set includes all three.

Who This Set Is For

This set suits BMW X1, X2 and Mini Clubman owners with vibration or clunks from worn mounts, and independent workshops working on these models.

Common Questions

How many mounts do I get? Three: two upper mounts and one lower torque support, as shown in the photos.

Is this a genuine BMW or Mini part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket set sold under the reference numbers above.
