Dinosaur Toilet Paper Holder, Wall-Mounted T-Rex Skull Design

This dinosaur toilet paper holder is shaped like a fossil T-rex skull with two small clawed arms, holding a bone-ended rod that the roll slides onto. Bathroom accessories are usually designed to disappear. This one is meant to be noticed. In the supplier's photos the skull sits above the roll with its teeth hanging over the paper, and the arms grip each end of the rod. We read the 24 cm figure as the overall width with the rod fitted. Measure your roll before ordering. Most standard household rolls are around 10 to 11 cm wide, which fits a rod of this length. Extra-wide or jumbo rolls may not.

A Straight Answer on the Details

"Metal" in the old title. The supplier's specification says resin and aluminium alloy. The supplier does not say which parts are resin and which are alloy. The skull has a metallic-looking finish, but the piece is not solid metal.
Screws or adhesive. The supplier says it can be fixed with adhesive or by drilling, and in one line says the fixings are not included. Elsewhere it says the package includes 4 screws, and the unboxing photo shows four screws. We expect screws in the box. No adhesive pad is shown, so if you want to avoid drilling you will need to buy a strong mounting adhesive or tape separately.
"Towel rack" and kitchen use. The supplier suggests kitchen paper rolls, gloves and small towels as well. It will hold a small kitchen roll if the roll fits the rod length. It is not a towel rail for bath towels.
Not stated: Rod diameter and length on its own, load limit and whether the finish is suitable for a very steamy room.

Why a T-Rex

The skull is modelled on Tyrannosaurus, the big predatory dinosaur best known for its huge head and famously short arms. Those little arms are the joke in this design. They are just long enough to hang on to a toilet roll.

Fitting It

Hold it against the wall at a comfortable reach from the toilet, usually around 60 to 70 cm off the floor and slightly in front of the seat.
Mark the screw holes through the bracket.
Drill and use wall plugs suited to your wall. Tiles need a tile bit and a gentle start.
Screw the bracket on, attach the skull section if it is separate, and slide the roll onto the rod.

The rod is a separate piece in the supplier's photo of the parts laid out, so it comes off to change the roll.

Care

Dust it with a soft, dry brush. The skull has lots of crevices.
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can wear through the metallic finish.
Do not spray bleach or bathroom cleaner straight onto it.
Keep it away from the shower spray.

More Than a Toilet Roll Holder

The supplier pitches it for kitchens as well as bathrooms. Under a wall cabinet it could hold a small kitchen roll, a pair of rubber gloves or a cloth on the rod, as long as the roll is no wider than the rod. In a child's bedroom or playroom it could hang ribbons, a roll of drawing paper or craft tape. Wherever it goes, remember that the skull is decorative resin rather than a structural part, so it is not designed to take weight beyond a roll of paper. Avoid hanging bags, towels or anything a child might pull on. If you use it in a kitchen, keep it away from the hob, where heat and grease could damage the finish over time.
