GT-R Ignition Coil Pack of 6 – T0178G, UF636, 22448-JF00B for 2009-2014 Nissan GT-R 3.8L V6
GT-R Ignition Coil Pack of 6 – 22448-JF00B, UF636, T0178G
This GT-R ignition coil pack is a set of six coil-on-plug ignition coils listed under the numbers 22448-JF00B, UF636 and T0178G for the 2009–2014 Nissan GT-R with the 3.8L V6. Six coils cover every cylinder of a V6 in one purchase. Easy Life Markets sells the set as pictured, six black coils with integrated connectors and plug boots.
Each coil sits directly on its own spark plug and turns the car's low supply voltage into the high voltage that fires the plug. The supplier describes it as a transformer that takes a supply of about 14 V and raises it to about 64 kV. On a twin-turbo V6 the coils work in a hot, tightly packed engine bay, and a weak coil shows up quickly as a misfire under boost. For the basics of how the part works, see the ignition coil article.

The supplier's information is not fully consistent, and we would rather tell you than hide it.
- The listing title says 2009–2014 GT-R, 3.8L V6, with the numbers T0178G, UF636 and 22448-JF00B.
- The supplier's specification text gives the part number as UF638 / 22448-JF00B and names the Infiniti QX56 and the Nissan Armada, NV2500 and Pathfinder.
The number 22448-JF00B appears in both places, and it is the one to rely on. The set contains six coils, which suits a six-cylinder engine. Do this before ordering:
- Remove one coil from your engine and read the number printed on it. If it says 22448-JF00B, you have a match on the reference.
- Compare the coil with the photo. Check the connector position, the mounting point and the length of the boot.
- Count your cylinders. Six coils will not complete a V8.
- Check with your VIN. A Nissan parts counter can confirm the coil number for your car. You can also send the VIN and the number from your old coil through our contact page and we will help you check.
Signs of a Failing Ignition Coil
- A misfire or hesitation under hard acceleration that is not there at light throttle
- A rough idle, sometimes with a slight shake through the car
- The check engine light flashing, with misfire codes for one or more cylinders
- Power that comes and goes as the engine gets hot
- Poorer fuel economy and a smell of unburnt fuel
A misfire under load on a turbocharged engine should not be ignored. Unburnt fuel reaching the exhaust can overheat the catalytic converters.
Installation Notes
- Let the engine cool fully and switch the ignition off. Disconnect the battery negative terminal as a precaution.
- On the GT-R the coils are not all easy to reach, and covers or intake pipework may have to come off first. Keep track of every hose and connector you remove.
- Unplug each coil by releasing its locking tab. Do not pull on the wires.
- Undo the retaining bolt and draw the coil straight up out of the plug well.
- Inspect the wells for oil or water before fitting the new coils.
- Seat each new coil fully on its plug, refit the bolt to the torque in the service manual and reconnect the plug until it clicks.
Because of the access involved and the value of the engine, we recommend having this set fitted by a qualified mechanic who knows the car.
Fit Fresh Plugs at the Same Time
Since the coils have to come out to reach the spark plugs anyway, it makes sense to do both jobs together. Worn plugs with wide gaps demand more voltage and put extra strain on new coils. Use the plug type and gap specified for your engine and state of tune. If the car has been modified, follow your tuner's advice on plug choice.
One Coil or All Six?
A single failed coil can be replaced alone. In practice, all six have lived through the same heat cycles, and the labour to reach them is the larger part of the job. Changing the full set once avoids going back in a few months later for the next one. Keep the best of your old coils as a spare for diagnosis.
Who This Set Is For
It is for GT-R owners and specialists replacing coils marked 22448-JF00B, and for workshops that have confirmed the reference against the car. If you only know the model and have not seen the number on your current coils, check first.
Common Questions
Are these genuine Nissan coils? No. They are unbranded aftermarket coils sold under reference numbers. They are not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.
Why does the supplier mention the QX56, Armada, NV2500 and Pathfinder? Those models appear in the supplier's own text alongside UF638, which differs from the title. We cannot confirm that fitment, so go by the number on your old coil.
Is this suitable for a tuned engine? The supplier gives no performance rating beyond the voltage figures above. Ask your tuner before fitting it to a modified car.
