Mid Century Modern Sideboard – 60.5 Inch Buffet Cabinet with 4 Carved Doors, Walnut
Mid Century Modern Sideboard – 60.5 Inch Buffet Cabinet with 4 Carved Doors
This mid century modern sideboard is a long, low storage cabinet in a walnut finish, with four doors decorated with cut-out geometric fronts, adjustable shelves inside and two cable holes in the back. It measures 60.5 inches wide, 15.75 inches deep and 32 inches high. Easy Life Markets sells it in walnut.
The doors are what you notice first. Each one is carved with fluted lines and teardrop-shaped openings, so the front reads as a single patterned panel and you catch glimpses of what is inside. Behind them are two cupboards with shelves. The supplier's photos show it in a dining room holding plates and glasses, and it works equally well as a media console under a television or as a hallway cabinet.
What Is in the Box
The supplier does not give a parts list. It states that the sideboard comes with a full set of screws, tools and instructions, and estimates assembly at 20 to 30 minutes. The package measures 65.13 × 19.38 × 10.75 inches and weighs 112.60 lb (51 kg). That is a two-person lift, so plan how it will get from the door to the room.

A Straight Answer on the Details
- What is wood and what is board. The supplier lists the material as solid wood plus MDF, and says the base and feet are solid wood and the cabinet is P2 grade MDF. So the body and doors are MDF with a walnut-coloured finish. It is not a solid walnut cabinet.
- "Waterproof". The supplier describes the base as waterproof and moisture-proof. We do not repeat that claim. Treat it as indoor furniture and wipe up spills promptly. The supplier also suggests a bathroom as one place for it. We would keep an MDF cabinet out of a steamy room.
- The paint. The supplier calls it lead-free and eco-friendly. We have not seen test documents and pass this on only as the supplier's description.
- Open fronts. The cut-outs in the doors let air in and dust with it, and the contents are partly visible. That is good for ventilating media equipment and less good if you want everything hidden.
- Assembly time. The supplier says 20 to 30 minutes. For a four-door cabinet of this weight we would allow longer, and a second pair of hands.
- Not stated: Top and shelf load limits, internal dimensions, hinge type and whether a wall-fixing kit is supplied.
About Sideboards
A sideboard is a waist-high cabinet that began in the dining room, as a place to set out dishes and store tableware. In the middle of the twentieth century designers stretched it into the long, low, leggy shape most people now picture, and it moved into the living room as well. This one follows that pattern: a wide top for serving or display, cupboards below, and tapered legs that lift it off the floor so the room feels less crowded.
Where to Use It
- Dining room: For plates, glasses, serving dishes and table linen, with the top as a serving surface.
- Living room: As a media console. The cable holes let leads pass through to a wall socket, and the open fronts let equipment breathe.
- Hallway or entryway: For shoes, bags and hats, with a lamp and a bowl for keys on top.
- Bedroom: As a low chest for folded clothes and bedding.
- Kitchen or coffee corner: With a coffee machine on top and its lead through the back.
A cabinet under a television should be wider than the screen. At 153.7 cm this one sits under most televisions up to about 65 inches, which are roughly 145 cm wide. No load limit is stated for the top, so check with us before standing a heavy screen on it.
Will It Fit?
- You need a clear wall of at least 154 cm.
- Allow about 40 cm in front for the doors to swing open.
- Check that the 165 cm carton can turn the corners on the way in.
- If it stands against a socket, line up a cable hole with it before you load the shelves.
Care
- Dust with a soft, lint-free cloth. A soft brush clears the grooves and cut-outs in the doors.
- Wipe marks with a barely damp cloth and dry the surface.
- Use coasters and mats under glasses, plants and hot dishes.
- Avoid abrasive and solvent cleaners.
- Keep it away from radiators and strong direct sunlight.
- Fix it to the wall if children are in the house.
Who It Suits
Anyone who wants one substantial, good-looking storage piece for a dining or living room, with a decorative front that does more than a row of flat doors.
