6PCS Pencil Ignition Coil Pack 9091902230 9008019027 – Fit Lexus LS200 2.0 Petrol, Lexus & Toyota V8, 4-Pin Connector
6PCS Pencil Ignition Coil Pack – 9091902230, 9008019027 for Lexus and Toyota
This pencil ignition coil pack is a set of six coil-on-plug ignition coils with a 4-pin connector, sold under the reference numbers 9091902230 and 9008019027. The supplier also cross-references it to 1000384, 12868 and CU1273, and lists it for a range of Lexus and Toyota petrol engines from 1998 to 2009. Easy Life Markets sells the six coils together for owners and workshops who would rather renew several coils at once than chase misfires one cylinder at a time.
A pencil coil is a long, slim coil that drops into the plug well and sits right on top of the spark plug. There is one for every cylinder, and each is switched by the engine computer through the plug on its head. Because the coil lives deep in the cylinder head, it soaks up heat every time the engine runs. After enough years the insulation inside gives up, and the result is a misfire that tends to show first when the engine is hot or under load. The ignition coil article has a clear explanation of what happens inside.

Two things in the supplier's listing need pointing out, because they affect what you order.
First, the quantity. This is a pack of six coils, and almost every engine on the list above is a V8. A V8 uses eight coils, so one pack will not renew a full engine. It will cover six cylinders, or leave you spares if you are only replacing the failed ones.
Second, the name. The supplier's product name mentions "Lexus LS200 2.0 petrol", but that model does not appear anywhere in its own fitment list. We have kept the wording in the title because it is part of the listing, but please do not buy on that line alone.
The safe way to check:
- Read the number on one of your coils. Toyota coils usually carry it on the head, written as 90919-02230 or similar.
- Look at the plug. It should have four pins.
- Confirm by VIN in a Toyota or Lexus parts catalogue, particularly for the Tundra, where the supplier gives years but no engine size.
- Ask us. Send your VIN or registration details and we will compare them with the supplier's information before you order.
Signs Your Coils Are Wearing Out
- A misfire you can feel as a shudder at idle or under gentle acceleration
- The engine warning light flashing under load, with a misfire code for a single cylinder
- Rough running that appears once the engine is fully warm
- A drop in fuel economy and a raw fuel smell from the exhaust
- Cracks in the coil body or a swollen, split boot at the bottom of the tube
Installation Tips
The supplier gives three pieces of advice, and all three are sound:
- Disconnect the power. Take the negative terminal off the battery before you start, to avoid a short circuit.
- Clean the area. Wipe dust and oil away from around each coil before you lift it out, so nothing falls into the plug well and the new coil seats on a clean surface.
- Check the spark plugs. If they are worn or due for replacement, change them at the same time.
To that we would add a few of our own:
- Do one coil at a time so the connectors cannot get mixed up.
- Press the tab on the 4-pin plug fully before pulling. The plastic is often brittle after years of heat.
- Tighten the single retaining bolt to the figure in the service manual. It does not need much force.
- If you find oil in a plug well, the tube seals in the valve cover are leaking. Fix that, or the oil will ruin the new coil boot.
If you are not comfortable working around ignition parts, a qualified mechanic can fit the set quickly.
Why Replace Several Coils Together
On these engines the coils on one bank can be awkward to reach, and once you are in there it makes sense to renew more than the one that has failed. Coils fitted at the same time have had the same life, so when the first goes the rest are rarely far behind. A pencil ignition coil pack also keeps the coils matched, which makes later fault-finding easier.
Who This Set Is For
Lexus and Toyota owners with one of the listed engines who have matched 9091902230 or 9008019027 on their existing coils, and garages that see these V8s regularly and want coils on the shelf.
Common Questions
Are these genuine Toyota or Lexus coils? No. They are unbranded aftermarket coils sold under those reference numbers for matching purposes.
My engine is a V8. Is six enough? Not for a full set. You need eight coils for eight cylinders, so plan for that when you order.
Do I need to code or program anything after fitting? The supplier does not mention any setup. After fitting, clear any stored misfire codes and road test the car.
