VEVOR Smart Battery Charger, 8-Amp Total Across Four 2A Channels (GS120C-4)

The VEVOR smart battery charger on this page is a four-channel unit: one box, four separate outputs, each with its own button and its own row of indicator lights. The supplier titles it as an 8-amp, fully-automatic charger, maintainer and desulfator for LiFePO4 and lead-acid (AGM, Gel, SLA) batteries. The unit in the photos is marked VEVOR, model GS120C-4, with "2A x 4" printed on the front. Easy Life Markets sells it for people who have more than one battery to look after.

That last point is what sets it apart from a single-lead charger. A car that sits for weeks, a motorcycle laid up over winter, a ride-on mower and a boat battery can all stay connected at once, each on its own channel. If you want the background on charging stages and why slow charging is gentle on a battery, the battery charger article is a good primer.

What the Photos Show in the Set

The supplier's description consists of pictures only and has no written packing list. The product photos show:

  • 1 x GS120C-4 charger with four output leads
  • 4 pairs of red and black alligator clips ("x4 pairs" in the photo)
  • 1 x AC power cord
  • A fold-out hanging hook on the back of the case

If you need to know the plug type or whether a manual is in the box, contact us and we will check with the supplier before you order.

About the "8-Amp" Figure

Read this before buying. The front panel says "2A x 4" and the rear label gives each output as 2A. So the 8 amps in the title is the four channels added together. It is not 8 amps into a single battery. If you want one large battery charged quickly, a single-output charger with a higher current is the better tool. If you want several batteries kept topped up without swapping leads, this layout is exactly what you need.

Batteries and Uses the Supplier Lists

The title names car, boat, motorcycle, lawn mower, golf cart, marine and deep cycle batteries. One product photo shows the clips on a 6/12V lead-acid battery and on a 12V LiFePO4 battery, and the rear label shows 6V and 12V outputs. Nothing in the listing mentions 24V or higher, so do not plan on using it for 24V, 36V or 48V packs wired in series unless each 6V or 12V battery can be charged separately and your battery maker allows it.

The supplier also calls it a maintainer and a desulfator. A maintainer is left connected to hold a stored battery at full charge. A desulfator is meant to help a lead-acid battery that has been left partly discharged. The listing gives no detail on how either function works, so we cannot tell you more than the title does.

How Long Will a Charge Take?

As a rough guide, divide the battery capacity in amp-hours by the 2A charging current, then allow extra time because charging slows near the end. A flat 12 Ah motorcycle battery needs somewhere over six hours. A flat 60 Ah car battery needs well over a day. That is normal for a 2A charger, and it is why this type is mostly used for overnight charging and long-term upkeep.

Using It Safely

  1. Charge in a dry, ventilated place, away from sparks and open flames.
  2. Confirm the battery voltage and chemistry before connecting. Lithium and lead-acid batteries need different charging profiles.
  3. Connect the red clip to the positive post and the black clip to the negative post, then plug in the mains lead.
  4. Start the channel with its button and check the indicator lights.
  5. Unplug from the mains before removing the clips.

Keep the unit within the listed temperature range of -4°F to 104°F. Do not charge a battery that is frozen, cracked, swollen or leaking. The hook lets you hang the charger clear of the floor and the battery.

Is This the Right Charger for You?

It makes sense for households with several vehicles, small workshops, riders and boat owners with seasonal machines, and anyone running a row of 12V batteries. It is less suited to buyers who need fast charging of one big battery or who work with 24V systems.

Common Questions

Can I join two outputs to get 4A? The listing does not say this is allowed, so do not do it. Use one channel per battery.

Do I have to use all four channels? No. Each channel has its own button, as the photos show.

What does 1V low voltage detection mean? The spec chart lists it without explanation. We read it as the lowest battery voltage the charger will recognise, but ask us if this matters for a deeply discharged battery.
