2008-2012 Accord Coilovers – Adjustable Coilover Shock Absorber Strut Kit for Honda Accord 8th Gen
2008-2012 Accord Coilovers – Height Adjustable Kit for the 8th Gen Honda Accord
These 2008-2012 Accord coilovers are a full set of four, two front and two rear, for the eighth-generation Honda Accord. The supplier also lists the kit for the Acura TSX and for the European, Japanese and Australian versions of the same car. Ride height is adjustable, with a drop of roughly 1 to 3 inches below the factory height. Easy Life Markets sells the kit complete with two spanner wrenches for setting it up.
A coilover replaces the factory shock and spring at each corner with a single unit that has a threaded body. Winding the spring seat up or down the thread changes how high the car sits. That is the whole appeal: you choose the ride height instead of accepting a fixed drop from a set of lowering springs, and you can change it again later. If the idea is new to you, the coilover article gives a clear introduction.
What Comes in the Kit
- 2 x front coilovers
- 2 x rear coilovers
- 2 x C spanner wrenches for the adjusting collars
The supplier states that the hardware pictured is included. The kit photo also shows two clamp brackets and a printed instruction leaflet alongside the four coilovers and two wrenches.

The supplier adds a note about the front strut towers. Accord EX, EX-L and LX-S trims and the TSX sedan and Sport Wagon have strut tower bar mounting points. Accord LX, SE and LX-P trims have the reserved factory mounting points. Look at the top of your own strut towers and compare them with the top mounts in the photos.
To confirm the kit suits your car, find the chassis code on your VIN plate or registration papers and match it against the list. If your code is not there, or you are unsure which version you own, contact us with the VIN and we will help you check.
What the Spring Rates Mean on the Road
At 10 kg/mm front and 7 kg/mm rear, these springs are a good deal stiffer than the soft springs a family sedan leaves the factory with. You will get less body roll, sharper turn-in and less dive under braking. You will also feel more of the road surface. The supplier describes the twin-tube dampers as tuned for a comfortable ride on the street, which fits a daily driver that is lowered for looks and handling. It is not a track-only setup, and it is not the right kit if you want the car to ride like stock.
Setting Up and Installing
- Measure and write down the ride height at all four corners before you start, from the wheel centre to the arch.
- Set left and right to the same thread length off the car, then fine-tune once the car is back on its wheels.
- Set the spring preload within the 7–10 mm the supplier advises, and lock the collars firmly against each other with the two wrenches.
- Transfer brake hose and sensor wire brackets carefully, and make sure nothing is stretched at full droop or full steering lock.
- Torque every fastener to the service manual figure with the suspension at ride height.
- Drive a short distance, let the springs settle, re-check the heights and collars, then have a full four-wheel alignment done.
Suspension is safety-critical and lowering a car changes its geometry. If you have not fitted coilovers before, have a qualified workshop install and align them.
Things to Think About Before Lowering
- Clearance. At the lower end of the range, speed bumps and steep driveways need care.
- Tyres and wheels. Wide wheels or low offsets can rub once the car is dropped.
- Camber. Lowering adds negative camber, most noticeably at the rear. A camber kit may be needed to bring the alignment back into range and protect your tyres.
- Local rules. Some places regulate ride height or require modified suspension to be inspected. Check before you fit.
Who This Kit Is For
It suits Accord and TSX owners who want a lower stance and firmer handling on a street car, and who are happy to trade some ride comfort for it. It also suits owners replacing four worn-out factory shocks who would rather move to an adjustable setup than buy standard parts again.
Common Questions
Are these genuine Honda parts? No. This is an aftermarket kit, and the parts in the photos carry maXpeedingrods markings. It is not made by Honda or Acura.
Can I keep the standard ride height? The supplier gives a lowering range of 1 to 3 inches from the factory height, so expect the car to sit at least about an inch lower.
Is the damping adjustable? The supplier does not list damping adjustment for these 2008-2012 Accord coilovers. Only the height is adjustable.
