2014-2019 Corolla Steering Rack – Power Steering Rack & Pinion Assembly for Toyota Corolla L4 1.8L Engine, LHD, 4551002490
2014-2019 Corolla Steering Rack – Rack and Pinion Assembly with Inner Tie Rods
This 2014-2019 Corolla steering rack is a complete rack and pinion assembly for left-hand-drive cars, supplied with both inner tie rods already fitted. The supplier lists it for the Toyota Corolla from 2014 to 2019 under reference numbers 1G-26013, 2426013 and 4551002490, and the listing title names the L4 1.8L engine. Outer tie rod ends are not part of the assembly. Easy Life Markets offers it as a single unit for owners and workshops replacing a worn or damaged rack.
The steering rack is the part that turns the rotation of your steering wheel into the side-to-side movement that points the front wheels. A small pinion gear on the end of the steering shaft meshes with a toothed bar, the rack, and pushes it left or right inside its housing. Tie rods on each end pass that movement on to the wheels. The rack and pinion article explains the mechanism well. When the gear teeth, the internal bushings or the inner tie rod joints wear, the steering develops free play and noises that no alignment can remove.
What Is Included

- Inner tie rods, fitted to both ends of the rack
The product photos show the rack with rubber boots over the inner tie rod joints and lock nuts on the tie rod threads, along with blue protective caps for transport. Outer tie rod ends are not included, and mounting bolts are not listed.

The supplier answers "no" for both the pressure port and the return port thread size. In other words, this rack is listed without hydraulic line connections. Check that your car's rack has no fluid lines running to it before you order.
Checking Fitment
The supplier lists this assembly for:
- Toyota Corolla, 2014–2019, left-hand drive
The title specifies the 1.8L four-cylinder engine, and the supplier's application line says all engines. Go by the part number to be safe. Three checks will settle it:
- Left-hand drive only. This rack is listed as LHD. It is not suitable for right-hand-drive cars, where the pinion sits on the other side.
- Match the number. 4551002490 is a Toyota-format number, normally written 45510-02490. Ask a Toyota parts counter which rack number your VIN calls for.
- Measure your old rack. Compare the 49.063 in overall length, the four mounting holes and the 13.188 in hole spacing with the unit on your car.
If you would like help, send your VIN, the model details and a photo of the old part through our contact page. The supplier asks for the same information when checking compatibility.
Signs the Steering Rack Is Failing
- Free play at the steering wheel before the front wheels respond
- A knock felt through the wheel on rough roads or when rocking the wheel with the engine off
- Steering that is tight in one spot and loose in another as you turn from lock to lock
- The car wandering on a straight road even after an alignment
- Split rack boots, with dirt or rust around the inner tie rod joints
- A notchy or grinding feel when turning the wheel slowly
Installation Notes
- Centre the steering wheel and lock it in place before disconnecting the steering shaft. If the wheel spins freely with the shaft disconnected, the clock spring behind the airbag can be damaged.
- Centre the new rack as well: count the turns lock to lock (3.125 on this unit) and set it at the halfway point before connecting the shaft.
- Mark or count the position of the outer tie rod ends on the old inner tie rods, and thread them on to the new ones to the same depth as a starting point.
- On many cars the subframe has to be lowered slightly for access. Support the engine and subframe properly if your service manual calls for it.
- Tighten the four mounting bolts and the steering shaft pinch bolt to the Toyota service manual torque.
- A full wheel alignment is required afterwards. Do not skip it; the toe setting will be off.
Steering is safety-critical, and the supplier recommends professional installation to avoid mistakes. Unless you have done this job before, we suggest having a qualified mechanic fit the rack.
While the Rack Is Out
This is the easiest moment to inspect the outer tie rod ends, since they have to come off anyway and are not included here. Check the rubber boots and feel each joint for play. Look over the steering shaft universal joint and the rack mounting bushings too. Replacing a tired outer tie rod end now costs far less than doing a second alignment later.
Who This Rack Is For
It suits owners of left-hand-drive 2014–2019 Corollas with play or noise traced to the rack, taxi and fleet operators who run high-mileage Corollas, and repair shops that prefer fitting a complete assembly with inner tie rods instead of rebuilding the old unit.
Common Questions
Does it come with outer tie rod ends? No. Inner tie rods are included; outer tie rods are not.
Can I use it on a right-hand-drive Corolla? No. The supplier lists it for LHD only.
Is this a genuine Toyota part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket rack. The Toyota-format number is a cross-reference, and this is not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.
