5 Tier Garage Shelving Unit – 72 Inch Adjustable Boltless Steel Rack, Black
5 Tier Garage Shelving Unit – 72 Inch Adjustable Steel Rack
This 5 tier garage shelving unit is a tall, black, boltless steel rack with five shelves, measuring 36 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 72 inches high. The supplier rates it at 400 lb per shelf and 2,000 lb in total. Easy Life Markets sells it in black.
It is a full-height rack with a modest footprint. At 16 inches deep it sits close to a wall and leaves room to open a car door or walk past, while five shelves over six feet of height make use of wall space that usually goes to waste. The supplier's photos show it in a garage loaded with tool cases, storage crates and a pressure washer. One photo shows the same parts built as two low racks side by side, which gives a bench-height run of shelving.
What Is in the Box
The supplier provides no written packing list for this rack. The photos show steel uprights with keyhole slots, hook-in beams and five shelves, and the net weight is given as "including all accessories" without naming them. Racks of this design are tapped together with a rubber mallet. Ask us before ordering if you need to know whether a mallet, gloves or wall fixings are included.

A Straight Answer on the Details
- The load figures. 400 lb per shelf is the supplier's rating, and "2000 lbs" was in the original title. Ratings like these assume weight spread evenly across the whole shelf, correct assembly and a hard, level floor. We have not tested the rack. It weighs 19.1 kg itself, so load it with sensible margins and keep the heaviest items at the bottom.
- The shelf decks. The supplier's material panel lists only steel. In the photos the shelves are black with a ribbed, wire-deck look. We read them as steel decks, not wooden boards, but the supplier does not say so in words.
- Fix it to the wall. A six-foot rack that is only 16 inches deep is top-heavy when loaded high. Secure it to the wall before loading, whether or not fixings are supplied.
- Brand. The supplier's listing for this rack names no brand. We sell it as an unbranded item.
- Not stated: Package contents, steel thickness, slot spacing, deck material in words and package size.
About the Steel
SPCC is a grade of cold-rolled steel sheet. In rolling, metal is passed between heavy rollers to bring it down to an even thickness, and doing the final passes cold gives a smooth surface and close tolerances. The sheet is then pressed into the angled uprights and beams of a rack and powder coated to keep rust off. The coating is the rack's only protection, so a chip that shows bare metal is worth touching up.
Where to Use It
- Garage: Tool cases, fluids, car care kit and boxed spares along a side wall.
- Basement or utility room: Storage crates, cleaning supplies and bulk buys.
- Workshop or shed: Built as two low racks under a window or beside a bench.
- Pantry or stockroom: Cartons and tins, with the heavy cases low down.
Allow a floor space of about 92 × 41 cm and a clear height of at least 185 cm. Check the ceiling in a basement or under a garage door track.
Putting It Together
- Wear gloves. Pressed steel has sharp edges.
- Lay two uprights on the floor and hook in the beams for one side, then the other. Use the same slot on every upright so the shelves sit level.
- Tap each beam down with a rubber mallet until its tabs are fully seated.
- Stand the frame up with a helper and fit the shelves from the bottom.
- Fix the rack to the wall, then load from the bottom up.
Care
- Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Stand leaking or oily containers in a tray.
- Touch up chipped coating to stop rust.
- Check the beams are still seated after moving the rack or after a heavy knock.
- Do not climb on the shelves or use the rack as a ladder.
Who It Suits
Anyone who needs tall storage on a narrow strip of floor: a single garage, a basement wall, the back of a shop or a rented unit.
