Cantilever Patio Umbrella – Outdoor 3m Side Post Leisure Umbrella with 8 Ribs and Crank, Coffee or Khaki
Cantilever Patio Umbrella – 3m Side Post Umbrella with 8 Ribs
This cantilever patio umbrella hangs its canopy from an arm on a side post instead of a pole through the middle, so the shade falls over a table, a pair of loungers or a hot tub with nothing in the way underneath. The supplier describes it as a 3m side leisure umbrella with eight iron ribs and a 160G polyester canopy. Easy Life Markets sells it in two options: coffee without the bracket, and khaki with the bracket included.
The photos show the usual layout for this type: a dark steel-coloured post standing on a cross base, a curved arm over the top, and the canopy hanging from a hub at the end of the arm. A crank handle sits on the post about halfway up. The canopy has a vent at the crown. Opening and closing are manual, as the supplier states, and the photos show the canopy folding down beside the post when it is closed.
Choosing Between the Two Options
Please read this part before ordering, because the two options are not simply two colours.
- Coffee / No bracket included. The supplier's colour note describes this as light coffee "without umbrella stand", and the packing list for the listing reads "1 x umbrella cloth". We cannot confirm from the supplier's text whether this option is the canopy alone or the canopy with post and arm but no base. Ask us before you order and we will check exactly what is in the parcel.
- Khaki / Bracket included. This comes with the cross-shaped base bracket shown in the photos. The supplier is clear that the counterweight is not included. You need to supply your own weight and press it onto the cross base to hold the umbrella down.

A Straight Answer on the Details
- "3m". This figure comes from the title only. The supplier does not say whether it is the canopy diameter or another measurement, and gives no height.
- Weight is your job. A cantilever umbrella puts all its load on one side. With no counterweight in the box, the base will not hold the umbrella up in any breeze until you add one. Sandbags, paving slabs or purpose-made base weights on all four arms of the cross are the usual answer.
- Wind. One photo calls the top vent "ventilation for enhanced stability and wind resistance". A vent helps, but no parasol of this kind should be left open in strong wind.
- Colours. A burgundy swatch appears in one supplier photo. It is not one of the options we offer.
- Tilting. One supplier graphic shows the canopy at several angles. The supplier's text does not describe a tilt function, so treat that as unconfirmed.
- Not stated: Overall height, clearance under the canopy, total weight, base size, UV rating and whether the canopy is water-repellent.
Why a Side Post Helps
A standard market umbrella needs a hole in the table, or a base right in the middle of your seating. An offset design moves the post to one side, which leaves the space under the canopy clear. That suits a corner of the patio, a set of loungers by a pool or a seating area where you do not want to dodge a pole every time you stand up. The trade-off is weight: the base has to balance the canopy hanging off the arm, which is why the counterweight matters so much.
Setting It Up
- Choose a flat, firm surface. Decking, paving or a level patio is better than soft lawn.
- Assemble the cross base, stand the post in it, and load the base with weight before you open the canopy.
- Place the post so the canopy reaches over the area you want shaded, keeping the arm clear of walls, gutters and overhanging branches.
- Use the crank to open and close it. Do not force it if it binds; check that the ribs are free.
- Close the canopy and secure it when you leave it, overnight, and whenever the wind picks up.
Care and Storage
- Brush off leaves and dust and wipe the canopy with mild soapy water. Let it dry fully open before closing it, so it does not go mouldy.
- The ribs are iron, so dry them off after rain and touch up any chips to keep rust away.
- A cover or indoor storage over winter will help the canopy last.
- Check the bolts and the crank from time to time.
Who It Suits
Patios, decks, poolside areas and gardens where you want a large patch of shade without a pole in the middle of the seating. It is a good fit for people who already have a heavy base weight, or who are happy to buy sandbags or slabs to go with it.
Common Questions
Is a counterweight included? No. The supplier says you need to add your own weight to the cross base.
What does the coffee option include? The supplier's packing list says umbrella cloth, with no bracket. Please contact us to confirm before ordering.
Can it stand on grass? It needs a firm, level surface and enough weight. Soft ground is not ideal.
Is it a known brand? No brand is given by the supplier. It is an unbranded cantilever patio umbrella.
