Chevrolet GMC Turn Signal Switch 1967-1972 – Blinker Directional Switch with Harness for C10 C20 C30 K10 K20, SWA41605
Chevrolet GMC Turn Signal Switch for 1967-1972 C and K Series Pickups
This Chevrolet GMC turn signal switch is listed for 1967–1972 Chevrolet C10, C20, C30, K10 and K20 pickups and the matching GMC C and K series trucks of the same years. It comes as a complete assembly: the switch body, a flat ribbon of colour-coded wires and the long flat plug on the end. The supplier lists it under part number SWA41605 and interchange number TW-24. Easy Life Markets sells it for owners and restorers who need working blinkers on one of these trucks again.
On a truck of this age the switch sits at the top of the steering column, behind the steering wheel, and it has been clicked left and right for more than fifty years. The contacts wear, the plastic gets brittle and the wires harden where they bend inside the column. The usual result is a signal that works on one side only, will not cancel after a turn, or cuts in and out when you move the lever. If you want the background on how the system works, the article on automotive lighting has a section on turn signals.
What Is Included
- 1 x turn signal switch with attached wiring harness and column plug
One of the supplier's photos also shows a short adapter lead with a flat plug on one end and a round multi-pin plug on the other. The listing does not say in writing whether that lead comes in the box, so if you need it, ask us before ordering. The turn signal lever, flasher unit, steering wheel and column hardware are not listed as included.

The listing does not mention Blazer, Jimmy or Suburban models, and it does not say whether the switch suits a tilt column, a standard column or both. Many of these trucks have also had a column swapped in from something else over the years. Before you order, please check:
- The plug. Find the turn signal connector at the base of your steering column and compare its shape and number of terminals with the photos.
- The switch body. If your steering wheel is already off, compare the round plastic body and its mounting points with the pictures.
- The column. If the column is not original to the truck, match the switch to the column, not to the truck's model year.
- The numbers. If your old part or a parts catalogue shows SWA41605 or TW-24, this is the listed match.
Signs the Turn Signal Switch Is Worn
- Signals work on one side but not the other
- The lever will not stay in position, or does not cancel after a turn
- Signals flicker or drop out when the lever or the steering wheel is moved
- A rear lamp that will not light as a brake light although the bulb and socket are good
- Melted or cracked insulation on the wires at the base of the column
That fourth point surprises people. On vehicles where the rear turn signal and the brake light share one bulb, the brake light feed passes through the turn signal switch, so a worn switch can cause a brake light fault too. Rule out the simple things first, though: bulbs, sockets, grounds, the fuse and the flasher unit fail far more often and cost less to fix.
Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery before you start.
- Take off the horn button and steering wheel. Use a proper steering wheel puller and do not hammer on the shaft.
- Unplug the old switch at the base of the column and tie a length of string or wire to the plug before you pull the harness up. Use it to draw the new harness down the column.
- Feed the ribbon in flat, without twisting it, and make sure it cannot be pinched by the column cover.
- Fit the switch with the original screws and refit the lever.
- Reconnect the battery and test left, right, the brake lights and the cancelling action before the truck goes back on the road.
Follow the service manual for your truck, because the steps differ between column types. If you are not comfortable pulling a steering wheel, a workshop that works on older trucks can do the job.
Who This Switch Is For
It suits owners of 1967–1972 Chevrolet and GMC pickups who drive or restore their trucks, and workshops that want a complete switch with its harness instead of repairing fifty-year-old wiring one strand at a time.
Common Questions
Is this a genuine GM part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket switch listed under SWA41605 and TW-24. It is not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.
Does it come with the lever? The lever is not shown in the photos and is not listed, so plan to reuse yours.
Will it fix signals that light up but do not flash? Not always. That fault usually points to a burnt-out bulb, a poor ground or a tired flasher unit, so check those first.
