LED Light Bar Wiring Harness Kit 280W 12V – 40A Power Relay, 30A Fuse, On/Off Switch, 10ft Length, Universal Fitment Light Bar Accessories
LED Light Bar Wiring Harness Kit – 280W, 12V, 40A Relay, 30A Fuse, 10ft
This light bar wiring harness is a pre-wired kit for connecting an LED light bar or a pair of auxiliary lights to a 12V DC vehicle battery. It has a 40A relay, a 30A fuse, an on/off button switch with indicators and a main line about 3 m (10 ft) long, and the supplier rates it for a maximum load of 280W. Easy Life Markets sells it in black as a single kit with a user manual, for anyone fitting extra lighting who would rather not build a loom from loose parts.
The reason to use a harness like this is the relay. A light bar draws far more current than a small dashboard switch should carry. So the switch only carries a small signal current, and that signal closes the relay, which feeds the lights straight from the battery through the fuse. The cabin switch stays cool, the lights get full voltage and the fuse protects the circuit if something shorts. The supplier says all connectors, including the relay and its fuse, come pre-wired.
What Is in the Kit
- 1 x pre-wired harness kit (relay, fuse, switch and cables)

What It Works With
The supplier describes the kit as a universal fit for light bars, work lights, driving lights, spot lights and fog lights that run on a 12V DC supply. "Universal" here means it is not made for one vehicle, so there are three things to check against your own setup:
- Voltage. The kit is for 12V DC systems. It is not listed for 24V trucks or machinery.
- Power. Add up the wattage of everything you plan to run from it and keep the total at or under 280W. At 12V that works out at roughly 23 amps, which sits inside the 30A fuse rating.
- Connector. Compare the plug on your light with the output end of the harness in the photos. Light bars do not all use the same plug, and you may need to fit a matching connector or join the wires.
Also measure your cable run. You have about 10 ft of main line to get from the battery area to the light, about 35 in to reach the switch position and about 20 in on the battery side. If you are not sure the lengths will work on your vehicle, get in touch and tell us what you are fitting.
How to Install It
- Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
- Mount the relay somewhere dry in the engine bay, away from exhaust heat and moving parts.
- Run the main line to the light, following existing looms where you can and securing it every hand-width or so.
- Pass the switch lead through a grommet in the bulkhead into the cabin. Never run a cable through a bare metal hole.
- Clean the dash surface, peel the tape on the back of the switch and press it into place where you can reach it without looking away from the road.
- Connect the positive lead with the fuse to the battery positive, and the ring terminal to a clean earth point or the battery negative.
- Reconnect the battery and test. The indicator on the switch shows when the circuit is on.
Follow the user manual supplied with the kit for the exact connections. If vehicle wiring is new to you, an auto electrician can fit this quickly, and it is worth the cost to have the battery connections made properly.
Getting a Reliable Installation
- Keep the fuse close to the battery. It only protects the cable after it.
- If the 30A fuse blows, find the short before replacing it, and never fit a larger fuse.
- Leave a little slack near the light so engine movement and bodywork flex do not pull on the plug.
- Seal any joints you make with heat-shrink, and point connectors downward so water drains away.
- Check your local rules on using auxiliary lights on public roads. Many places require them to be off or covered when driving on the road.
Why a Relay Harness Beats Splicing Into Existing Wiring
Tapping a light bar into a headlight feed or an accessory circuit is tempting, but those circuits were sized for their original loads. Overloading them leads to hot wires, blown fuses and dim lights. A dedicated relay harness gives the lights their own fused supply from the battery and leaves the vehicle's original wiring alone, which also makes it easy to remove later.
Who This Kit Suits
Owners of 4x4s, pickups and utility vehicles with 12V systems who are adding a light bar or work lamps up to 280W, and workshops that fit auxiliary lighting and want a ready-made loom with the relay and fuse already in place.
Common Questions
Can I run two lights from it? The supplier does not state how many outputs the harness has. What matters electrically is that the combined load stays within 280W. Check the output end in the photos against your lights.
Is the fuse 30A or 40A? The fuse is 30A and the relay is rated 40A. They are two different parts.
Is it waterproof? The supplier gives no water-resistance rating, so mount the relay and switch where they stay dry.
