Ford C-Max Lower Control Arms – Left and Right Front Pair with Ball Joints

This pair of Ford C-Max lower control arms covers both front corners: one left arm and one right arm, each a complete assembly with its ball joint. The supplier lists them for the Ford C-Max and also for the Ford Focus, with one important exclusion on the Focus that we explain below. The arms have a silver powder-coated finish and are sold under reference numbers K622788 for the left and K622753 for the right. Easy Life Markets sells the two together as a set.

The C-Max and Focus share the same front suspension design, a MacPherson strut with a single lower arm on each side. The arm bolts to the subframe through two bushings and to the knuckle through a ball joint. The rear bushing is the large one, and it is usually the first thing to go: the rubber tears, the arm starts to move under braking, and you feel a clunk or a shudder through the floor. Worn ball joints add vague steering and uneven tyre wear. Fitting a complete arm deals with both bushings and the joint in one step.

What Comes in the Package

  • 1 x front lower left control arm, bolt metric Ø21 – reference K622788, BV6Z3079F
  • 1 x front lower right control arm, bolt metric Ø21 – reference K622753, BV6Z3078F

The supplier describes the arms as fully assembled, and the set is as shown in the pictures. Instructions are not included, and bolts and nuts are not listed.

Compatibility – Please Read the Years Carefully

The supplier's application list is:

  • Ford C-Max, 2013–2018, all models
  • Ford Focus, 2012–2018, excluding cars with 15-inch wheels and excluding the ST

The listing title names the C-Max for 2013–2016, while the supplier's application text runs to 2018. Because the two do not agree, treat 2017 and 2018 cars as needing confirmation by part number before you order. The Focus exclusions are firm: the supplier does not list this pair for a Focus on 15-inch wheels or for the Focus ST.

  1. Check your wheel size if you have a Focus. It is printed on the tyre sidewall, for example R15, R16 or R17.
  2. Look up your VIN in a Ford parts catalogue and note the lower arm numbers. Compare them with the BV6Z and CV6Z references above.
  3. Measure the bolt. The supplier notes a metric Ø21 bolt for both arms. If your old arm is out of the car, compare it.
  4. Not sure? Message us with the VIN and model year.

Signs the Lower Arms Are Due

  • A clunk when braking to a stop or setting off again
  • Shudder through the steering wheel or floor on rough roads
  • The steering feeling loose or slow to self-centre
  • Visible tears in the large rear bushing
  • Uneven front tyre wear, or a car that pulls after an alignment
  • An inspection report mentioning play in the lower ball joint

Installation Tips

  • Support the car on stands and remove the front wheels. An undertray may have to come off for access to the rear bushing bolts.
  • Release the ball joint pinch bolt at the knuckle and lever the arm down carefully. Do not let the driveshaft pull out of the gearbox as the knuckle moves outward.
  • Remove the inner bolts and swap the arm. Start all bolts by hand before tightening any of them.
  • Tighten the front bushing bolt with the suspension at ride height, and use the torque figures from the Ford workshop manual. Some of these bolts are torque-to-yield and should be replaced, so check the manual.
  • Finish with a front wheel alignment.

The supplier recommends professional installation. Lower arms are safety-critical, and on the C-Max Hybrid and Energi there is high-voltage equipment on the car, so if you have any doubt, let a qualified mechanic do the work.

Why Replace the Pair

Both arms have done the same mileage on the same roads. When one rear bushing has split, the other is rarely in much better shape. Changing both keeps the steering response even from side to side and means the alignment is done once, on new parts, instead of twice.

Who This Set Is For

C-Max and Focus owners with a braking clunk or worn front bushings, home mechanics comfortable with suspension work, and workshops that want a matched left and right pair for one job.

Common Questions

Does it fit the Focus ST? No. The supplier excludes the ST and any Focus with 15-inch wheels.

Is this a genuine Ford part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket pair. The Ford-format numbers are cross-references only, and this is not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.

Are the ball joints and bushings fitted? The supplier describes the arms as fully assembled and ready to bolt in.
