Kia Forte Lower Control Arms – Front Driver and Passenger Side with Ball Joints

If you need Kia Forte lower control arms for a 2014–2018 car, this set gives you both front arms, driver side and passenger side, each with its ball joint and rubber bushings fitted. The supplier lists the pair for the Kia Forte 2014–2018, the Forte Koup 2014–2017 and the Forte5 2014–2018, with all engines. The arms are steel with a powder-coated finish and are sold under reference numbers K623741 and K623742. Easy Life Markets sells them as a pair so both sides of the car get the same parts on the same day.

The Forte uses a simple strut front suspension with one lower arm per side. That arm is the only link holding the bottom of the wheel in place, so its condition decides how the car steers, brakes and wears its tyres. The ball joint at the outer end lets the wheel turn and move up and down; the bushings at the inner end let the arm swing while keeping road shock out of the cabin. On a compact car used daily in town, speed bumps and kerbs wear all three. A complete arm replaces the joint and both bushings together, with no pressing required.

What Is Included

  • 1 x front lower control arm with ball joint, driver side – reference K623741
  • 1 x front lower control arm with ball joint, passenger side – reference K623742

The set is as shown in the product pictures. Bolts, nuts and instructions are not listed as included. The supplier uses left-hand-drive terms, so driver side means the left of the car and passenger side the right.

Which Cars the Supplier Lists

  • Kia Forte, 2014–2018, all engines
  • Kia Forte Koup, 2014–2017, all engines
  • Kia Forte5, 2014–2018, all engines

Notice that the Koup listing stops at 2017 while the saloon and the Forte5 hatchback run to 2018. The 2019 and later Forte is a new generation and is not listed. To be sure about your own car:

  1. Check the Kia part number. The references 54500-A7000, 54500-A7100, 54501-A7000 and 54501-A7100 are Kia-format numbers. Ask a dealer which lower arm number your VIN calls for and compare.
  2. Check the build date. A car registered in early 2014 may be the previous generation. The build plate in the driver's door opening gives the production date.
  3. Compare old and new. Look at the bushing positions and the ball joint stud against the photos.
  4. Send us the VIN. Use our contact page and we will help you check before you spend anything.

How Worn Lower Arms Show Up on a Forte

  • A knock or rattle from one front corner over small bumps at low speed
  • A creak when turning the wheel while parking
  • The car drifting to one side and needing steady correction
  • The steering wheel sitting off-centre after hitting a pothole
  • Feathered or one-sided wear on the front tyres
  • A split ball joint boot with grease thrown around it

A ball joint with real play in it is not something to leave. If it separates, the wheel can fold under the car. Get it looked at promptly.

Notes for Fitting

  • Loosen the wheel nuts on the ground, then raise the front and support it on stands under the body, not under the arms you are removing.
  • Release the ball joint from the knuckle, then remove the front and rear inner bolts.
  • Check the subframe mounting points for rust or damage while the arm is out.
  • Hang the new arm with all bolts finger-tight. Load the suspension to ride height before the final torque, so the rubber bushings sit in their neutral position.
  • Tighten to the values in the Kia workshop manual and fit new self-locking nuts where the manual calls for them.
  • Have the alignment checked. Toe changes whenever a lower arm is replaced.

The supplier recommends professional installation. This is a safety-critical part, so if you are not set up for suspension work, hand it to a qualified mechanic.

Steel Arms with a Powder-Coated Finish

The arms are steel, as listed by the supplier, and the powder coating is there to resist rust and corrosion. The bushings are rubber, which keeps the ride quiet. The supplier also says the parts are quality tested for ease of installation and durability; we repeat that as the supplier's statement and have no separate test results to show you.

Who Buys This Set

Mostly Forte owners whose car has failed an inspection on ball joint play or bushing wear, drivers chasing a front-end knock, and small garages that want a left and right pair ready to fit. It also makes sense if one side has failed and the car has covered enough distance that the other side cannot be far behind.

Common Questions

Does the set fit the Forte5 hatchback? The supplier lists the Forte5 for 2014–2018, all engines.

Is this a genuine Kia part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket set. The Kia-format numbers are cross-references, and this is not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.

Are the ball joints replaceable separately later? The supplier does not say. Treat each arm as a complete unit.
