NS200 Rear Brake Caliper – Replacement Motorcycle Brake Caliper

This NS200 rear brake caliper is a single replacement caliper for the rear disc brake of a motorcycle, listed by the supplier under the style code NS200. The photos show a gold-coloured caliper body on a mounting bracket, with brake pads already sitting in it and a capped bleed nipple on top. Easy Life Markets sells it to riders and workshops who have a rear caliper that leaks, sticks or was damaged in a fall.

We will be straight about what the listing does and does not tell us. The supplier gives the model code NS200 and the position, rear, and nothing else: no motorcycle brand, no model years and no part number. That is enough for someone who has the old caliper in hand and can compare it with the pictures, and that comparison is what we recommend. For general background on how a caliper clamps the disc, see the disc brake article.

In the Box

  • 1 x motorcycle brake caliper

The supplier's packing list has that one line. As shown in the product photos, the caliper comes on its bracket and pads are visible in the caliper opening. We cannot promise the pads from the packing list alone, so treat them as a bonus if they arrive and keep a set of your own ready. The brake hose, banjo bolt, washers and fluid are not listed.

Checking Fitment

Because the listing gives a model code and no years or part number, please do not order on the name alone. Work through this short list with the old part in front of you:

  1. Bracket outline. The bracket in the photos is roughly triangular with mounting holes at the corners. Compare the outline and the hole positions with yours.
  2. Caliper body. The body in the photos has a wide bridge over the pads with two openings. Check that yours looks the same from above.
  3. Pad shape. Pull one pad from your old caliper and compare it with the pads visible in the photos.
  4. Hose and bleed positions. The banjo port and the bleed nipple should sit where your hose can reach without twisting.

Not sure? Send us a photo of your caliper together with the make, model and year of the motorcycle, and we will ask the supplier before you spend anything.

When a Rear Caliper Is Worn Out

  • The rear wheel does not spin freely after you release the pedal
  • Fluid stains on the caliper body or drips on the inside of the wheel
  • The pedal sinks slowly under steady pressure
  • One pad worn to the metal while the other still has material
  • Corroded or pitted piston visible when the pads are out

Rear calipers often seize after a bike has stood unused for a season. Old fluid holds moisture, the piston corrodes, and the seal can no longer pull it back. Rebuilding is possible, but a pitted piston bore rarely seals for long.

Installation Notes

  • Put the bike on a stand so the rear wheel is clear of the ground.
  • Loosen the banjo bolt slightly while the old caliper is still bolted down. It is much easier than doing it in your hand.
  • Wrap a rag around the hose end and keep fluid off paint and plastics.
  • Fit the new caliper over the disc, tighten the mounting bolts to the service manual figure and use new sealing washers on the banjo.
  • Bleed the rear brake from the nipple until the pedal is firm, then top up the reservoir.
  • Pump the pedal, release it, and confirm the wheel turns freely before riding.

Brakes decide whether you stop. If you are not used to hydraulic work, let a motorcycle mechanic fit the caliper or check it afterwards.

Why Replace Instead of Rebuild

A seal kit costs less, and on a caliper with a clean bore it is a fair repair. The trouble is that you only find out about the bore after stripping the caliper. If the bore or piston is pitted, new seals leak again within months. A complete caliper removes that guesswork and gets the bike back on the road in one session. It is also the practical answer when the body is cracked or a bleed nipple has snapped off in the casting.

Keeping It Working

Change the brake fluid on schedule, keep the caliper clean, and check pad thickness every time you adjust the chain. A light smear of brake grease on the slide pins at each pad change keeps the caliper floating freely, which is what gives even pad wear.

Who This Caliper Is For

It is for owners who know their bike uses a rear caliper sold under the NS200 code, for mechanics with the old unit on the bench, and for small parts shops that serve commuter and street motorcycles.

Common Questions

Which motorcycle brand is it for? The supplier does not name one. The listing gives only the NS200 code and the rear position, so compare the photos with your part or ask us.

Is it an original manufacturer part? No. It is an unbranded aftermarket caliper.

Will I get the gold or the black bracket? Most photos show a gold bracket and one shows black. Tell us if this matters and we will ask the supplier.
