PG-9021 Game Controller – Bluetooth Mobile Gamepad with Phone Holder

The PG-9021 game controller is a black Bluetooth gamepad for phones, with a spring clip on top that holds the phone above the controls. It has two analogue sticks, a direction pad, four coloured face buttons and shoulder buttons, in an ABS body shaped like a console pad. The supplier lists it for iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi and other Android phones. Easy Life Markets sells it as a single controller.

Touch-screen controls put your thumbs over the picture and give nothing to feel for. A clip-on pad moves your hands off the screen and gives you real sticks and buttons, which makes racing, platform and fighting games far easier to play for more than a few minutes. With the phone held in the clip, the whole thing becomes one handheld unit.

What Is in the Box

The supplier does not publish a written packing list. Its photos show the controller with its phone clip, a USB charging cable and a printed manual. Ask us before ordering if you need the contents confirmed.

A Straight Answer on Compatibility

This is the part to read before buying. A controller working with a phone and a controller working with a particular game are two different things.

The game must support controllers. Many phone games are built for touch only and ignore a gamepad completely. Check the game's own description or settings for controller support.
Android. Bluetooth gamepads are widely supported by Android games that offer controller play, and by emulators.
iPhone. The supplier's note says this is not an Apple product and that it is compatible with iPhone models. It does not say which iOS versions, which mode, or which games. Controller support on iPhone depends heavily on the game and the system version, and older Bluetooth pads often work only with a limited set of titles. If you are buying mainly for an iPhone, ask us first and tell us the games you play.
Phone size. The supplier does not give the clip's opening width. Tell us your phone model, with its case, if it is a large one.

What the Supplier Does Not State

Battery capacity and hours of play
Bluetooth version and range
Clip opening width
Weight and dimensions
Whether it works with tablets, smart TVs or PCs

The supplier's listing uses a brand name for this model. We have not verified the maker, so we sell it under its model number and make no brand claim.

Setting It Up

Charge the controller fully with the USB cable.
Switch it on in the pairing mode for your type of phone. Gamepads of this kind have more than one start-up mode, chosen by which buttons you hold, so follow the manual.
Open Bluetooth settings on the phone and select the controller when it appears.
Pull the clip open, seat the phone centrally and let the clip close on it. Keep the clip clear of the phone's side buttons.
Open a game that supports controllers and check the button mapping in its settings.

If the game does not respond, the controller is usually in the wrong mode for that game. Switch it off, start it in the other mode and pair again.

Getting the Best from It

Take a thick case off the phone if the clip struggles to grip.
Turn off other Bluetooth devices you are not using. Fewer connections means less lag.
Keep the phone's brightness sensible. The phone's battery, not the pad's, is usually what ends a session.
Rest your forearms on something on long sessions. A phone held high on a clip is top-heavy.
Remap buttons inside the game where it allows. Layouts differ from title to title.

How It Compares with Touch Controls

A gamepad gives you analogue movement, which a flat screen cannot. Pushing a stick halfway makes a character walk and pushing it fully makes them run, and your thumb always knows where the stick's centre is. Shoulder buttons let you accelerate or aim without taking a thumb off the sticks. The supplier lists no vibration, so you will not feel rumble through the pad.

Care

Wipe it with a dry cloth. Keep liquid away from the sticks and the charging port.
Do not leave the phone clamped in the clip in a bag, where the weight can strain the hinge.
Do not leave it charging on a bed or sofa.
Top up the battery every couple of months if it is stored.

Who It Suits

Android players who use emulators or controller-ready games, commuters and travellers who play on a phone, parents who want a pad a child can use with a spare phone, and anyone who finds touch controls cramped.

Common Questions

Is it an Apple product? No. It is a third-party controller, not made or endorsed by Apple. The supplier lists it as compatible with iPhone models.

Will it work with every game? No. Only games that support controllers will respond to it.

Does it vibrate? No. The supplier lists no vibration.

Does it connect by cable? The supplier's title says Bluetooth. The USB port is listed as the interface, and the photos show a charging cable.

Does it fit a tablet? The clip is made for phones. A tablet could be paired and stood on its own stand if its games support controllers, but the supplier does not list tablets.
