Silverado 2500 HD Front Brake Kit – 14 Inch Drilled and Slotted Rotors, 2011-2019

This Silverado 2500 HD front brake kit is listed for 2011–2019 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD trucks. It is a front-axle set: two 14 inch drilled and slotted rotors and a set of ceramic brake pads. The product photo shows the two rotors, four pads and eight hardware clips, and the rotors in the picture have an 8-lug bolt pattern. Easy Life Markets sells the kit for owners and workshops replacing the front pads and rotors on these heavy-duty pickups.

A 2500 or 3500 HD does serious work. Towing a trailer, hauling a loaded bed or carrying a service body all put far more heat into the front brakes than a light truck ever sees, and the front axle does most of the stopping. Over time the rotors score, develop hot spots or wear below their minimum thickness, and the pads wear down with them. The usual result is a pulsing pedal, a shudder when slowing from speed, or a grinding noise. Replacing the rotors and pads together gives the front axle a clean start. For more on how the system works, see the disc brake article.

What Is Included

As shown in the product photo:

  • 2 x front brake rotors, drilled and slotted
  • 4 x front ceramic brake pads
  • 8 x pad hardware clips

This is a front kit only. Rear rotors and pads, calipers, brake fluid and brake cleaner are not included.

The supplier does not publish rotor thickness, part numbers or pad reference numbers for this kit, so we have not listed any. If you need a measurement that is not shown here, ask us before ordering and we will try to get it for you.

Compatibility

The supplier lists this kit for:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD, 2011–2019
  • GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, 2011–2019

It is not listed for the Silverado or Sierra 1500, which use different brakes. Because the listing gives no part numbers, it is worth taking a few minutes to confirm the fit yourself:

  1. Measure your current front rotors. They should be 14 inches across.
  2. Count the wheel studs. The rotors pictured are 8-lug.
  3. Compare the pad shape in the photo with the pads on your truck.
  4. Check single or dual rear wheels. The listing does not say whether dual-rear-wheel 3500 HD trucks are covered, so confirm with your VIN in a GM parts catalogue if yours is a dually.

You can also send us your VIN and we will help you check.

About Drilled and Slotted Rotors

The holes and slots in the rotor face give heat, gas and brake dust somewhere to go when the pads are working hard. That is useful on a truck that tows, because long downhill stretches with a trailer are where plain rotors tend to fade. Slots also keep wiping the pad surface clean. The trade-off is that drilled and slotted rotors can wear pads a little faster and may make a faint whirring sound under braking, which is normal. The ceramic pads in this kit are the type generally chosen for low dust and quiet running.

Signs Your Front Brakes Need Replacing

  • A shudder or pulsing pedal when slowing from highway speed
  • Squealing, or grinding once the pads are worn through
  • Grooves, cracks or blue heat marks on the rotor face
  • A raised lip around the outer edge of the rotor
  • Brake fade when towing or on long descents

Installation Tips

  • Support the truck on stands rated for its weight. These are heavy vehicles and heavy rotors.
  • Follow the service manual for your truck, as the steps for removing the front rotor differ between versions.
  • Clean the hub mounting face thoroughly before fitting the new rotor.
  • Wipe the rotors with brake cleaner, fit the new clips, lubricate the slide pins and torque every fastener to specification.
  • Pump the pedal until firm before driving, then bed the pads in with a series of moderate stops. Avoid heavy towing for the first couple of hundred miles.

Brakes are safety-critical, and more so on a truck that tows. If you are not confident doing the work, have the kit fitted by a qualified mechanic.

Why Replace Pads and Rotors Together

Fitting new pads to worn rotors is a false economy on a heavy truck. The pads take on the shape of the old grooves, bed in poorly and the vibration you were trying to cure stays. New rotors and pads from the same kit bed in against each other and give a consistent pedal.

Who This Kit Is For

The kit suits owners of 2011–2019 Silverado and Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD trucks, fleet and farm operators, and independent garages, once the 14 inch rotor size and 8-lug pattern have been confirmed against the truck.

Common Questions

Does this kit include rear brakes? No. It is for the front axle only.

Is it a genuine GM part? No. It is an aftermarket kit. The rotors in the photo carry VEVOR markings.
