Yamaha YZ125 Full Gasket Kit for Engine Rebuilds

This YZ125 full gasket kit is a complete engine gasket set for the Yamaha YZ125 two-stroke. Instead of buying a top-end set now and a bottom-end set later, you get the gaskets and seals for the whole engine in one pack, so you can split the cases, rebuild and close everything up with fresh gaskets. Easy Life Markets sells the kit as a single set, and the product photos show every piece laid out so you can match them against your engine.

The Yamaha YZ125 is a two-stroke motocross bike that Yamaha has built for decades. These engines are simple and light, but they are raced hard, and regular top-end and bottom-end rebuilds are part of owning one. The current bike is on the official Yamaha YZ125 page. Every time a cover or the cylinder comes off, the old gasket should be replaced.

When You Need a Full Gasket Kit

A full kit makes sense any time you are doing more than a quick piston swap. Common jobs include:

  • Full engine rebuild, including crank bearings and seals
  • Splitting the cases to replace a crankshaft or connecting rod
  • Top-end rebuilds where you also want fresh cover gaskets
  • Clutch, water pump or ignition cover work
  • Fixing oil or coolant leaks from old, flattened gaskets

Reusing an old gasket is one of the most common causes of leaks after a rebuild. Gaskets compress when they are first tightened, and once they have been heated and cooled many times, they rarely seal properly a second time.

What Is in the Set

As shown in the product photos, the set includes the main engine gaskets and a selection of O-rings, including:

  • Crankcase gasket
  • Clutch and ignition side cover gaskets
  • Cylinder base gasket
  • Small gaskets for the reed valve, exhaust and other covers
  • Assorted rubber O-rings

Please compare the shapes in the photos with the parts on your bike before you start. Gasket shapes can change between YZ125 model years, and matching them up front saves time on the bench.

Check the Year Before You Order

This listing names the YZ125 but does not give a specific model-year range. Yamaha has updated the YZ125 engine several times over the years, and some gasket shapes differ between generations. To make sure this YZ125 full gasket kit suits your bike:

  1. Find the model year on your frame plate or registration.
  2. Take a photo of your old crankcase or side cover gaskets, or of the cover itself.
  3. Compare the outline, bolt holes and passages with the gaskets in our photos.

If you are not sure, send us your bike's year and a photo through our contact page before you buy, and we will help you compare.

Top-End Kit or Full Gasket Kit?

A top-end gasket kit only covers the parts you disturb when changing a piston: usually the cylinder base gasket, head O-rings and exhaust gasket. It is fine for a quick piston swap. A full gasket kit goes further and includes the crankcase gasket and the side cover gaskets, which you need as soon as you split the cases or open the clutch or ignition side. If you are rebuilding the bottom end, replacing crank bearings or tracking down a leak from one of the covers, a full kit is the one to buy. It is also simpler than ordering individual gaskets one by one.

Parts Worth Checking While the Engine Is Apart

With the engine stripped, it is a good time to inspect the parts that are hard to reach otherwise. Check the crankshaft seals and main bearings for play or roughness, look at the reed valve petals for chips or cracks, and measure the piston and cylinder if the top end is coming off. Inspect the clutch plates and springs while the clutch cover is off, and check the water pump shaft and seal for any sign of coolant leaking into the oil. Catching a worn part now saves you from pulling the engine apart again a few rides later.

Tips for a Leak-Free Rebuild

  • Remove every trace of the old gasket from both surfaces. A plastic scraper is gentler on aluminum cases than a metal blade.
  • Clean the surfaces with a degreaser so nothing is left between the metal and the new gasket.
  • Check the mating faces for nicks or warping, especially on older engines that have been apart many times.
  • Use a thin film of grease on O-rings so they do not pinch or roll when parts go together.
  • Tighten cover and case bolts evenly, in a cross pattern, to the torque values in your service manual.
  • After the first ride, check for leaks around every cover you disturbed.

Who This Kit Suits

This set is for YZ125 owners doing their own engine work, motocross teams and mechanics who rebuild race engines often, and anyone restoring an older YZ125 that has been sitting. Having a full kit on the shelf also means you are not stuck waiting for one small gasket when a cover needs to come off between races.
