2007-2013 Silverado Control Arm Kit – Front Upper and Lower Arms with Ball Joints

This 2007-2013 Silverado control arm kit gives you all four front control arms for the truck: left and right lower arms in cast iron, and left and right upper arms, each with its ball joint already fitted. The supplier lists it for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 from 2007 to 2013, and for a group of related GM trucks and SUVs set out below, but only for vehicles built with cast iron lower control arms. Easy Life Markets offers the four arms as one set.

These trucks use an upper and a lower arm on each front wheel, a layout known as double wishbone suspension. The arms hold the steering knuckle in position, and the ball joints at their outer ends let the wheel steer and move up and down. On a heavy truck those ball joints and bushings carry a lot of load, and when they loosen you feel it as vague steering, clunks and tyres that wear unevenly. Because the arms here come as complete assemblies, there is no pressing of old ball joints out and new ones in.

Compatibility

The supplier lists this kit for the following vehicles:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2014–2015, cast iron control arm models, excluding off-road models
  • GMC Sierra 1500, 2007–2013
  • GMC Sierra 1500, 2014–2015, cast iron control arm models, excluding off-road models
  • Chevrolet Avalanche, 2007–2013

  • Cadillac Escalade, 2007–2015
  • Cadillac Escalade ESV, 2007–2014
  • Cadillac Escalade EXT, 2007–2013

One condition applies to the whole list: the supplier states "cast iron lower control arm models only, excludes off-road models". That tells you these vehicles were not all built with the same lower arm, so the year and model alone are not enough.

How to Check Your Truck

  1. Look at the lower arm. A cast iron arm is a thick, solid piece with a rough, grainy cast surface. A magnet will stick to it. If a magnet does not stick, the arm is aluminium and this kit is not listed for your vehicle. An arm pressed from sheet steel also holds a magnet, but it is visibly folded from plate instead of being one solid casting.
  2. Find the number on your old parts or on a previous repair invoice, and compare it with K620888, K620889, K80669 and K80670.
  3. Use your VIN. A GM parts catalogue or dealer parts counter can tell you which lower control arm your vehicle was built with and whether it has an off-road suspension package.
  4. Not sure? Send us your VIN and a photo of the lower arm, and we will help you compare it with the supplier's information.

When Control Arms and Ball Joints Are Worn

  • A clunk from the front over potholes, speed bumps or when braking
  • Steering that wanders or feels loose on the highway
  • Front tyres worn on one edge
  • A front wheel that can be rocked top to bottom with the truck jacked up
  • Cracked or perished bushings, or torn ball joint boots with grease leaking out

Ball joint play on a truck is not something to put off. A joint that separates lets the wheel fold under the vehicle.

Installation Notes

  • The supplier strongly recommends professional installation, and no instructions come with the kit.
  • Support the truck on stands rated for its weight and follow the service manual procedure for unloading the front suspension. The front springs store a great deal of energy.
  • Mark the position of the alignment cams or bolts before removing the old arms, so the settings are roughly right for the drive to the alignment shop.
  • Tighten the bushing bolts at normal ride height, not with the suspension hanging, and torque every fastener to the service manual figure.
  • Have a full wheel alignment done afterwards. The supplier recommends it after installation.

Control arms and ball joints are safety-critical parts. If you are not equipped for this job, have a qualified mechanic do it.

Why Change All Four Arms

The upper and lower joints on each side work as a pair, and the left and right sides have covered the same distance. Replacing one arm and leaving three old ones often means coming back to the same job a few months later and paying for a second alignment. With all four arms done together, the front geometry is set once on fresh bushings and ball joints.

Who This Set Is For

This set is for owners and workshops rebuilding the front end of a GM half-ton truck or full-size SUV from the list above, where the vehicle has been confirmed to have cast iron lower arms and is not an off-road model.

Common Questions

My truck has aluminium or stamped steel lower arms. Can I use this kit? The supplier lists it for cast iron lower control arm models only, so we cannot recommend the 2007-2013 Silverado control arm kit for other arm types.

Is this a genuine GM part? No. These are unbranded aftermarket control arms. The K-numbers are reference numbers used to identify the application.

Are the ball joints already installed? Yes. All four arms are listed as assemblies with the ball joint fitted.
