57.4mm Scooter Piston Kit with Piston Rings and Piston Pin

This 57.4mm scooter piston kit is a replacement piston set for pedal-type scooters and step-through motorcycles with a 57.4 mm cylinder bore. You get an aluminum alloy piston, a full set of piston rings and the piston pin, which covers the parts that wear out first when a small four-stroke engine starts losing compression or burning oil. Easy Life Markets sells it as one complete kit so you can refresh the piston side of your top end in one go.

"Pedal motorcycle" is the name many parts suppliers use for scooters with a flat floorboard, where you rest your feet on the deck instead of on pegs. If that describes your bike and the cylinder measures 57.4 mm, this is the size to look at.

What the Piston Kit Does

The piston takes the force of combustion and passes it through the pin and connecting rod to the crankshaft. The rings around it do two jobs: the top rings seal the combustion chamber so you keep compression, and the oil control ring manages the film of oil on the cylinder wall. When the rings wear or stick, you get the familiar symptoms:

  • Hard starting, especially when the engine is cold
  • Weak acceleration and a lower top speed than you are used to
  • Blue or grey smoke from the exhaust
  • Oil level dropping between changes
  • Low readings on a compression test

Replacing the piston and rings together is the usual fix when the cylinder itself is still within spec. If the cylinder wall is scored or worn oversize, you will need a new cylinder or a rebore as well.

Key Features

  • Aluminum alloy piston body
  • Combination ring set, with a steel strip combined oil ring for oil control
  • Piston pin included, so you are not reusing a worn pin in a new piston
  • Sized for a 57.4 mm cylinder diameter
  • Total piston height of 37 mm for easy comparison with your old part

What Is Included

The listing is for one piston kit. As shown in the product photos, that is:

  • 1 x piston
  • 1 x set of piston rings (compression rings and a combined oil ring)
  • 1 x piston pin
  • 2 x piston pin circlips

How to Check Fitment Before You Order

Scooter engines are made by many factories, and two engines that look the same can use different pistons. The safest way to buy a 57.4mm scooter piston kit is to measure what you already have:

  1. Measure the bore. Use a bore gauge or a good caliper across the cylinder. You are looking for 57.4 mm. 57.4 mm is a common stock bore on many 150cc four-stroke scooter engines, but that alone does not confirm fit, so measure your own engine.
  2. Measure the old piston. Check the diameter across the skirt and the total height (this one is 37 mm). Compare the crown shape and valve pockets with our photos.
  3. Check the pin. Measure the diameter of your old piston pin and compare it with the pin shown here. The pin must match the small end of your connecting rod.
  4. Look for oversize markings. If your engine has been bored before, the old piston may be stamped with an oversize figure. In that case, a standard 57.4 mm kit will not fit.

When your measurements line up, you know you are ordering the right part. If anything is unclear, send us your numbers first.

Fitting Tips

  • Clean the cylinder and check it for scoring or a lip at the top of the ring travel.
  • Check the piston ring end gaps in the cylinder before fitting them to the piston.
  • Fit the oil ring first, then the second and top compression rings, with any markings facing up and the gaps spread around the piston.
  • Make sure the arrow or mark on the piston crown faces the correct direction, usually toward the exhaust side.
  • Seat both circlips fully in their grooves, and cover the crankcase opening while you do it so nothing drops inside.
  • Use new gaskets on reassembly, and ride gently for the first stretch while the rings bed in.

Parts to Check While the Engine Is Open

With the cylinder off, take a few minutes to inspect the rest of the top end. Replace the head and base gaskets, check the cam chain and tensioner, and clean carbon from the combustion chamber and valves. It is also worth cleaning or replacing the air filter, because dust getting past a worn filter is a common reason pistons and rings wear out early.

Who Needs This Kit

This kit is a good choice for scooter owners doing a top-end refresh at home, small repair shops that service commuter scooters, and delivery riders who need to get a bike back on the road without replacing the whole engine. It is also a sensible spare to keep on the shelf if you run a scooter with this bore size every day.
