HK8100 Keyboard and Mouse Combo – 2.4G Wireless Gaming Set, 1200 DPI Optical Mouse
HK8100 Keyboard and Mouse Combo – 2.4G Wireless Gaming Set with 1200 DPI Mouse
The HK8100 keyboard and mouse combo is a full-size wireless keyboard and a matching optical mouse that share one 2.4 GHz USB receiver. The keyboard has multimedia function keys and coloured highlights on the main gaming keys. The mouse has three buttons, a DPI button and a 1200 dpi optical sensor. Easy Life Markets sells the set in black with blue or black with red.
The supplier pitches it at gamers, and the styling is certainly from that school. In practice it is an everyday wireless desk set with a gaming look: comfortable for homework, office work and casual play, with no cables across the desk. The sections below say what the supplier confirms and where its wording needs a pinch of salt.
What Is in the Box
- 1 × wireless keyboard
- 1 × wireless mouse
- 1 × USB receiver, stored inside the mouse
The supplier notes that the receiver sits in the bottom of the mouse and that you must open the lid to find it. Batteries are not listed, so plan to supply your own.

A Straight Answer on the Supplier's Claims
- "Waterproof". The supplier's title says waterproof. Its own description explains what it means: the circuit under the keys is a sealed film, designed to stop a short circuit from a spill. No water-resistance rating is given. Treat the keyboard as better than most at surviving a splash, and not as something to rinse or use in the wet. We have left the word out of our title.
- Battery life. The supplier says the batteries can last up to a year with its power-saving mode. That is the supplier's claim under its own conditions. It does not state the battery type or count, and real life depends on use. We repeat it as a claim, not a promise.
- "Gaming". The switches are the membrane type, not mechanical. The keys are quiet and soft, which many people prefer for typing. Competitive players who want a mechanical click or a high-dpi sensor should look elsewhere.
- Key layout. The supplier does not state the layout or language of the key legends. Ask us if you need a particular one.
- Backlighting. None is listed.
How the Wireless Link Works
Both devices talk to the small USB receiver over 2.4 GHz radio. There is nothing to pair and no driver to install on a mainstream desktop system. Plug the receiver in, fit batteries, switch on, and the computer sees an ordinary keyboard and mouse. This is not Bluetooth, so the receiver must stay plugged in, and the set will not connect to a phone or tablet that lacks a full-size USB port.
A membrane keyboard registers a key when the cap presses two thin printed layers together. With no separate switch under each key, the design is light, quiet and cheap to make, and it is the reason a sealed layer can sit over the circuit.
Setting It Up
- Open the cover on the underside of the mouse and take out the USB receiver.
- Fit batteries in the mouse and the keyboard, following the polarity marks.
- Plug the receiver into a USB port on the computer. A port on the front or side, close to the desk, gives the best signal.
- Switch on the mouse and keyboard if they have power switches.
- Wait a few seconds, then move the mouse and type to check both respond.
- Press the DPI button on the mouse to step through the pointer speeds and pick the one you like.
If Something Does Not Respond
- Check the batteries first. Weak batteries cause a jumpy pointer and missed keys long before they stop working.
- Move the receiver to another port, away from USB 3.0 drives and hubs, which can interfere with 2.4 GHz signals.
- Keep the receiver within a couple of metres with no metal case or desk frame in between.
- Use a plain mouse mat. Optical sensors struggle on glass and on glossy white surfaces.
Looking After It
- If you spill a drink, unplug the receiver, turn the keyboard upside down, and let it dry fully before using it again.
- Lift crumbs out with a soft brush or a puff of air.
- Wipe the keys with a barely damp cloth. Avoid solvent cleaners, which take off legends.
- Take the batteries out if the set will be stored for months.
- Store the receiver back in the mouse when you travel, so it is not lost.
Who It Suits
Students and home workers who want a cable-free desk, casual players who like the gaming look, families setting up a shared computer, and anyone replacing a worn-out laptop keyboard and trackpad with something more comfortable.
