MX3 Air Mouse – 2.4G RF Wireless Remote with Keyboard, Backlit and Voice Options, IR Learning, for Android TV Box
MX3 Air Mouse – 2.4G Wireless Remote with Keyboard for Android TV Box
This MX3 air mouse is a three-in-one handset for a TV box, mini PC or smart TV: a remote control on the front, a small QWERTY keyboard on the back, and a motion-sensing pointer that moves the cursor as you tilt your wrist. It connects through a 2.4G USB receiver and comes in four versions, with or without backlight and voice input. Easy Life Markets sells each version as a single remote with its receiver and manual.
The remotes supplied with most Android TV boxes are fine for up, down and OK, and miserable for anything else. Typing a search with an on-screen keyboard takes forever, and apps built for touch screens are hard to use with arrow keys. An air mouse fixes both. Its built-in gyroscope senses how the handset is moving and turns that into pointer movement, and the keyboard on the back handles text.
What Is in the Box
- 1 × MX3 air mouse
- 1 × USB wireless receiver
- 1 × user manual
It takes two AAA batteries, which are not included.
The Four Versions
- Standard: Remote, keyboard and air mouse
- Backlit: As standard, with lit keys for use in a dark room
- Voice: As standard, with a microphone for voice input
- Voice and Backlit: Both additions together
Choose the version in the selector. Voice input depends on the device you connect to. The remote passes your voice to the box, and the box needs a voice search or assistant function of its own to act on it.

Button Layout
The supplier's diagram labels the front as follows: power at the top left with an LED beside it, then home, menu and return, a navigation ring with an OK button, volume up and down on the left, previous page and next page on the right, a number pad, a 2.4G/IR switch key, a backlight on/off key on the backlit versions, an internet key, and four coloured keys along the bottom that double as infrared learning keys. The full keyboard is on the reverse.
Infrared Learning
The receiver lets the air mouse control the TV box, but it cannot switch on the television itself. To cover that, five keys on the MX3 can learn infrared codes from your TV's own remote: the power key and the four coloured keys. The supplier's steps are:
- Point the infrared ends of the TV remote and the air mouse at each other.
- Press and hold the TV key on the air mouse for 4 to 5 seconds until the LED flashes slowly.
- While the LED is flashing slowly, press the key on your TV remote that you want it to learn.
- When the code is received, the LED goes solid.
- Repeat for the other keys, then press the TV key to finish.
The manual in the box sets out how to choose which of the five keys is being programmed.
The supplier notes that the TV remote must use the NEC infrared protocol for learning to work. Many do, but not all, so treat learning as a useful extra and not a certainty for every television.
Will It Work with Your Device?
- A free USB-A port. The receiver has to be plugged into the box, PC or TV.
- Support for USB keyboards and mice. Android TV boxes, Windows and Linux PCs and Macs accept them. The supplier's original title names the X96 mini, KM9, A95X and H96 MAX boxes as examples.
- Smart TVs vary. Some accept a USB pointer in every app, some only in the browser. Check your TV's manual.
- Streaming sticks without a USB port cannot take the receiver without an adapter that supports USB accessories.

Tips for Use
- Hold the handset level for a second after switching on so the pointer settles.
- Turn the pointer off when you only need the arrow keys. It saves the batteries and stops the cursor wandering.
- Flip the remote over to type. The pointer normally pauses while the keyboard side faces up.
- If the pointer lags, move the receiver to a front USB port or onto a short extension lead, away from USB 3.0 drives.
Who It Suits
Anyone running an Android TV box, a media PC or a mini PC from the sofa, and people who search and type on the TV often enough to be tired of the on-screen keyboard.
