Nissan Ignition Coil 4 Pack for Nissan and Infiniti

This Nissan ignition coil 4 pack is a set of four coil-on-plug ignition coils that the supplier lists for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. Each coil has a black ABS housing, a plug-in connector at the top, a single mounting tab and a long boot that reaches down to the spark plug. Easy Life Markets sells the four coils together as one set, which is what a four-cylinder engine needs for a full change.

On engines like these there is no distributor and there are no plug leads. Every cylinder has its own coil sitting directly on top of its spark plug. The coil takes the 12 volt supply from the car and steps it up to the many thousands of volts needed to jump the plug gap. It lives in a hot place and is switched on and off constantly, so the insulation inside eventually breaks down. When that happens the cylinder misfires. The ignition coil article explains the principle clearly.

What Is in the Set

  • 4 x ignition coils (listed by the supplier as one set)

Spark plugs, mounting bolts and instructions are not listed as included. The product photos show the four coils only.

The supplier does not give a part number, a connector pin count or electrical values for these coils, so we have not listed any.

Checking Fitment

"Nissan and Infiniti" covers a lot of cars and several engine families, and the supplier does not narrow it down to models, years or engines. Because there is no part number to match, compare the coil itself:

  1. Take out one of your existing coils. It is normally held by one bolt and one electrical plug.
  2. Compare the shape with the photos. Look at the angle of the connector, the position of the mounting tab and the length of the boot.
  3. Check the connector. The plug on your wiring harness has to match the socket on the coil, both in shape and in the number of pins.
  4. Note the number on your old coil. It is usually moulded or printed on the top. Send it with your VIN through our contact page and we will help you check before you order.
  5. Count your cylinders. This set has four coils. A V6 needs six, and this pack will not cover it.

Signs of a Failing Ignition Coil

  • The engine shakes at idle or stumbles under load
  • The check engine light flashes while driving, then stays on
  • Misfire fault codes for one cylinder, such as P0301 to P0304
  • A noticeable loss of power going uphill or when overtaking
  • Higher fuel consumption and a smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust
  • Hard starting in wet weather

Do not keep driving with a flashing engine light. Unburnt fuel from a misfiring cylinder can overheat and damage the catalytic converter.

Finding the Bad Coil

If a scan tool shows a misfire on one cylinder, there is an easy test. Swap the coil from that cylinder with the one next to it, clear the code and drive. If the misfire moves to the other cylinder, the coil is at fault. If it stays where it was, look at the spark plug or the injector instead. This takes ten minutes and saves buying parts you do not need.

Why Replace All Four

All the coils on an engine have done the same mileage in the same heat. When one fails, the others are usually not far behind. Changing the set means you do the job once, and all four cylinders get the same spark. It also makes sense to fit new spark plugs at the same time. Worn plugs with wide gaps force the coils to produce a higher voltage, which is one of the main reasons coils fail early.

Installation Notes

  • Let the engine cool and switch the ignition off. Disconnecting the battery negative terminal is a sensible precaution.
  • Remove any engine cover or intake parts that sit over the coils.
  • Press the locking tab and unplug each connector gently. Old plastic tabs become brittle.
  • Undo the retaining bolt and pull the coil straight up with a slight twist.
  • Check the plug well for oil. Oil in the well means the valve cover gasket is leaking and will damage the new coil boot.
  • Push the new coil down until it seats on the plug, refit the bolt and tighten it gently. On most engines it threads into the valve cover and does not need much force.
  • Reconnect each plug until it clicks.

This is one of the simpler jobs on a modern engine. If access on your car is difficult or you are unsure, have a qualified mechanic fit the set.

Who This Set Is For

It suits owners of four-cylinder Nissan and Infiniti models who have compared their old coil with the photos, garages doing a coil and plug service, and anyone fixing a misfire who would rather change the set than chase coils one at a time.

Common Questions

Are these genuine Nissan coils? No. They are unbranded aftermarket coils. They are not a genuine part of the vehicle maker.

Which models do they fit? The supplier lists the makes only, with no models or years. Compare the shape and connector with your old coil and send us your VIN if you want help.

Can I use them on a six-cylinder engine? The set has four coils, so it does not cover a six-cylinder engine by itself, and the supplier does not confirm which engines these coils suit.
