2007-2017 Wrangler Brake Kit – Front and Rear Drilled and Slotted Rotors with Ceramic Pads

This 2007-2017 Wrangler brake kit gives you rotors and pads for both axles of the Jeep Wrangler JK. There are four drilled and slotted rotors, 11.9 inches at the front and 12.4 inches at the rear, plus eight ceramic brake pads. Easy Life Markets sells the set complete, so the front and rear brakes can be renewed in a single job with parts that belong together.

Wranglers lead harder lives than most vehicles. Mud, sand and water get into the brakes off road, and many owners add larger tyres, bumpers, winches and roof racks that the brakes then have to stop. The result is rotors that rust, score and wear unevenly, and pads that do not last as long as you would like. If the pedal pulses, the brakes grind, or the Jeep simply takes longer to pull up than it did, it is time to look at the rotors and pads. The disc brake article explains the basics if you are new to the subject.

Checking Fitment

The supplier's fitment chart lists two entries:

  • Jeep Wrangler, 2007–2017
  • Jeep Wrangler JK, 2018

The second line matters. In 2018 Jeep sold the outgoing JK alongside the redesigned JL. This kit is listed for the 2018 JK only, not the JL. If you have a 2018 Wrangler, confirm which body you own before ordering.

To be sure about your own Jeep:

  1. Measure the rotors. You are looking for 11.9 inches at the front and 12.4 inches at the rear.
  2. Check for brake upgrades. Many Wranglers have been fitted with big brake kits or different axles by previous owners. If yours has, the standard sizes above may no longer apply.
  3. Count the wheel studs. The rotors pictured have five holes.
  4. Use the VIN. A Jeep parts catalogue will confirm the brake sizes your vehicle was built with. Contact us with the VIN if you would like a second opinion.

Rotor and Pad Details

The rotors are made from HT250 cast iron. The supplier describes the drilled holes as helping heat escape and the slots as preventing water from collecting on the braking face and keeping dust away from the pad. That is useful on a vehicle that regularly drives through water and dirt. A galvanized coating covers the surface to hold back corrosion, which also keeps the rotors presentable behind open wheels.

The ceramic pads are described by the supplier as resistant to high temperatures and wear, with reduced dust and noise. Ceramic pads are a common choice for a daily-driven Jeep because they are quiet and keep the wheels cleaner than semi-metallic pads.

Signs the Brakes Are Worn

  • A pulsing pedal or steering shake under braking
  • Grinding or scraping, particularly after off-road use
  • Rotors with heavy rust scale, grooves or a raised outer lip
  • Pads worn close to their backing plates
  • Longer stopping distances after fitting larger tyres
  • The Jeep pulling to one side when you brake

Installation Tips

  • Support the Jeep on stands under the axles or frame, not on the jack.
  • Remove the caliper and its bracket, and tie the caliper up so the hose is not strained.
  • Old rotors often rust to the hub. A few taps with a mallet around the hat usually frees them.
  • Clean the hub face back to bare metal before fitting the new rotor.
  • Degrease the new rotors with brake cleaner.
  • Clean and lubricate the slide pins, and check the caliper pistons retract freely.
  • Torque all fasteners, including the wheel nuts, to the service manual values.
  • Pump the pedal to seat the pads before driving.

If you are not fully confident working on brakes, have a qualified mechanic install the kit. Mistakes here affect your safety and that of others.

Looking After Brakes on a Jeep That Goes Off Road

Rinse the brakes with clean water after driving in mud or sand, because grit trapped between pad and rotor scores both. After deep water crossings, apply the brakes lightly a few times to dry them. Inspect the pads more often than the service schedule suggests if you run oversize tyres or carry heavy accessories.

Who This Kit Is For

It suits JK Wrangler owners doing their own maintenance, off-road clubs and workshops that service Jeeps regularly. It is intended for vehicles that still have brakes of the standard size listed above.

Common Questions

Does it fit the Wrangler JL? The supplier does not list the JL. For 2018 it lists the JK only.

Is it a genuine Jeep or Mopar part? No. This is an aftermarket kit. The parts in the photos carry VEVOR markings.

Does it suit both two-door and four-door models? The supplier's chart does not separate them. Use the rotor measurements and your VIN to confirm.
